Konami Digital Entertainment will give away original mineral water named Gensui at its Gensou Suikoden booth during Tokyo Game Show 2026, which runs from September 17 to 21 at Makuhari Messe. The water shares its name with the series' common abbreviation and is presented as the renowned water of Taiju Village, the home of the protagonist in the upcoming title Gensou Suikoden STAR LEAP, referred to as Gensui SP. Attendees can receive Gensui by following the official Gensou Suikoden and Gensui SP X accounts and reposting the pinned post. Social media reactions quoted by the sources include 'Laughed at Gensui' and 'I want to try it.' The booth will also hand out an instruction manual for Gensui SP containing story information, world maps, and rune details, plus clear stickers featuring chibi characters from the Gensou Suikoden anime, distributed randomly in eight types under the same conditions. Exhibitions will commemorate Gensui SP and the series' 30th anniversary, including a main visual for Gensou Suikoden I newly drawn by Junko Kawano. Sony Interactive Entertainment announced on September 9 that it will lower the suggested retail price of the PULSE Explore Wireless Earbuds in Japan from 34,980 yen to 22,980 yen, a cut of 12,000 yen, effective September 15. The Midnight Black version gets the same reduction. The earbuds are PlayStation's first wireless earbuds and the first PlayStation audio device with custom-designed planar magnetic drivers, a component usually found in professional-grade headphones. Reservations for the Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Nintendo Switch 2 opened at Nojima Online and Yodobashi.com on September 9. Konami Digital Entertainment announced on September 9, 2026 that SILENT HILL f and Urban Legend Dissolution Center have entered a collaboration. The centerpiece is a browser-based mini game in which the two protagonists, Hinako Fukami and Azami Fukurai, meet in a strange fog. Hakaba Bunko, the developer of Urban Legend Dissolution Center, produced the game, which is playable on PCs, smartphones, and tablets and supports Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. The mini game contains no jump scares and depicts the encounter between the two characters who have each faced supernatural threats in their own games.
The collaboration also includes a commemorative illustration by kera, the illustrator responsible for character and creature design in SILENT HILL f, showing two versions of Hinako facing Azami and center chief Wataru Meguriya. A Steam bundle lets buyers purchase both games at 10 percent off their regular prices. A sale covering SILENT HILL series titles is also running on Steam, PlayStation Store, and Epic Games Store.

Nintendo aired The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct on September 8, 2026 at 23:00 JST, a roughly 30-minute special edition of Nintendo Direct that detailed the Ocarina of Time remake for Nintendo Switch 2 and a slate of anniversary initiatives. The remake, announced for a 2026 release, now has a November 5 launch date. Bandai Namco Entertainment's Gundam Rogue Orbit is shaping up as a melee-first action game, according to hands-on previews published September 8, 2026. The game launches March 5, 2027 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Previewers played roughly 30 to 45 minutes across two missions: Rail Control Battle, a tutorial-style stage against a molten boss called Giant, and Instinct, a solo fight against a dragon-like boss named Drake. Combat centers on three preset mech assemblies: the Assault Sword, a short-range attacker with a grappling-hook Anchor ability; the Whip Sword, which switches between sword and whip modes; and the Sword Lance, a mid-range build that gains power with distance. A shared Tactical Gauge powers both the offensive Tactical Skill and the cancel-any-action Tactical Move dodge. Building the G.U.N.RISE gauge unlocks Over-Rise, a temporary state previewers describe as near-invincible, with auto-dodging and an AP Unit Burst finisher. The game also includes part-breaking boss fights and online co-op for up to three players.

Bandai Spirits announced a collaboration between the Gundam franchise and the VTuber agency hololive production, releasing two METAL ROBOT魂 action figures based on Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack. The Nu Gundam gets a color scheme inspired by hololive talent Sakura Miko, while the Sazabi gets one inspired by Hoshimachi Suisei. Both figures feature die-cast parts throughout the joints for added weight and luxury. The collaboration markings appear on the shields and other parts, and each comes with a dedicated base with an original METAL ROBOT魂 design. Displaying the two together is intended to let fans enjoy the collaboration's appeal. Eastasiasoft Limited announced that Okko The Exiled, the side-scrolling 2D action game from Frozen Flame Interactive, launches September 30 on PC via Steam and GOG.com. PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S versions arrive in early 2027 in digital and physical form. The game follows oni boy Okko on a quest to defeat the oni kings of Kutara and connect his isolated world to the heavens.

Hunter x Hunter chapter 420, published in Weekly Shonen Jump issue 41 on September 7, shows Hisoka playing the Numa pachinko machine from Gambling Apocalypse Kaiji. The machine is one of the highest-rate, high-risk, high-reward pachinko machines in Kaiji's casino. Hisoka is also depicted holding the magnet-rigged canned beer that appears in Kaiji. The official account of the Kaiji spin-off manga Ichinichi Gaishutsu-roku Hancho responded to the chapter, writing that a man seems to have been hooked somewhere recently, and included the distinctive onomatopoeia gii... gii... ga... that also appears in Hunter x Hunter. Fans reacted with comments praising Togashi for saving the most interesting part for last, laughing at the image of Hisoka at the machine, and noting that the Numa in the Kakin Kingdom appears to share the same tilt gimmick as Kaiji's version.

Hunter x Hunter is going on hiatus again, with its return to be announced at a later date. The manga resumed serialization on June 29, and Shueisha published the 39th volume on July 3, its first in 22 months. A fourth stage play, Hunter X Hunter The Stage 4, will adapt the Chimera Ant Arc in Tokyo and Kyoto in 2027.

Robin Entertainment's in-development top-down 5v5 tactical shooter POLYSTRIKE has passed about 10,000 Steam wishlist registrations in less than three weeks since its official announcement. The game is a standalone rebuild of a Dota 2 custom game the developer started about seven years ago, which drew more than 200,000 players in its first week. Development runs on Unreal Engine 5, with a dynamic vision system built around information warfare.

Capcom began distributing free Monster Hunter Rise collaboration costumes for Onimusha: Way of the Sword on September 7. The DLC adds two outfits: Yo no Kei for Oni no Kajin (Shizuka Gozen), modeled after village receptionist Hinoe, and Yomogi no Mai for Izumo no Okuni, modeled after tea house girl Yomogi. Both costumes change appearance only and carry no combat performance effects. Players equip them through the Hama Kagami menu's Yosooi no Henkou option, which unlocks progressively as the game advances. The DLC requires the base game and is available through digital stores.
To mark the collaboration, Capcom published a special three-chapter manga titled Onimusha wa Gekiteki da yo!, following Hinoe and Yomogi as they visit the Kyoto of Onimusha: Way of the Sword. It is available on the official website and official social accounts. A second three-chapter manga, Shizu to Okuni ga Asobi ni Kita yo!, featuring Shizuka and Okuni visiting Kamura village, is scheduled for September 8.

HUNTER×HUNTER's latest serialized run ended with chapter 420 in Weekly Shonen Jump issue 41, released September 7. The 10-chapter batch matches the pattern set in 2024, when chapters 401 through 410 ran consecutively. The magazine said the next installment's timing will be announced in its pages once decided. Konami announced Rhapsody in Scarlet, a new action game set in 1920s New York, during Sony's State of Play livestream on September 3. Nintendo added the Paper Mario soundtrack to Nintendo Music on September 4. The 2000 NINTENDO 64 action RPG's music arrives with 148 tracks spanning 4 hours 29 minutes. The original CD soundtrack, released in 2000, went out of print and its tracks were never included in other soundtracks. Used copies sold for 50,000 to 100,000 yen, and one Amazon.co.jp listing sat at about 170,000 yen when the report was filed. The CD contained only 78 tracks, so the Nintendo Music version nearly doubles the count. Nintendo Music is available to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers on browser, iOS, and Android. The game itself is playable through NINTENDO 64 Nintendo Classics for Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers. Some tracks support the app's length-change feature.
