The official website for Tsuburaya Productions and Toei Animation's Kaiju Decode CG project revealed a teaser trailer, a new teaser visual, and a 2027 debut for Kaiju Decode: The Ring of Aidara on Sunday. Aya Yamane plays Maru and Karin Takahashi plays Coco. The story is set in Sakai in Osaka prefecture, with Katsuie Shibata writing the screenplay and Masayuki Gotou designing the monsters.
Square Enix announced on October 16, 2026 that it will release the board game Malum (Marum) Apple Game around February 2027 and opened an official website. The two-player card game costs 3,300 yen including tax, runs about 10 minutes, and is recommended for ages 10 and up. Players draw cards from an opponent's hand, resolve effects, and race to take three rounds. Game Market 2026 Autumn hosts playtests at the Hobby Japan booth on October 18.
Herobeat Studios won the Game of the Fair award at SAGA Barcelona Game Fest 2026, held in Barcelona from October 9 to 11, for Wilderings: The Lost Spring, a roguelite survival adventure due on Xbox Series X|S with Kabam publishing. The game is set in a world where pollution has collapsed the balance of nature, and the player restores polluted regions while fighting and befriending creatures called Hantu.
At New York Comic Con, Wizards of the Coast announced Magic: The Gathering | Marvel: Darkhold Destiny, a new Universe Beyond set built on an original story set in the Marvel Universe. The story spans roughly 30 dimensions and centers on Doctor Strange, Thor, Hela, and Dormammu. Two Secret Lair products were also announced: Secret Lair Countdown Kit: Marvel's History of Heroes, a 30-card set with more than 30 artists, and Secret Lair x Marvel: Doomsdrop, featuring Doctor Doom.
Yen Press announced five new licenses at New York Comic Con on Friday. The list includes the Fate/strange Fake light novels by Ryohgo Narita with original concept by TYPE-MOON, the Kino's Journey light novels by Keiichi Sigsawa with illustrations by Kouhaku Kuroboshi, and the Spice and Wolf Diner: Gourmet Exploration manga by Sera Murase and original creator Isuna Hasekura. Two more light novel series were also picked up: The Girls Adrift Among the Stars and Dungeon Master: Creating a Hot Spring Dungeon.
Pre-orders for the Touken Ranbu ONLINE x THE KISS Collaboration Rings Wave 1 opened on October 9, 2026 at 19:00 on Premium Bandai and FanFunMARKET. The lineup has four silver rings, each inspired by a Touken Danshi: Mikazuki Munechika, Shokudaikiri Mitsutada, Kashuu Kiyomitsu, and Goke Kanemitsu. Serenity Forge will publish Springs, Eternal, the exploration narrative game from Fullbright, for PC via Steam on November 12, 2026. A free demo is out now. Players explore Stillwater Springs, a remote night-time hot spring resort, with a flashlight, meeting more than 12 characters across over 30,000 words of dialogue. Japanese is supported.
In an interview, manga author Takako Shimura discussed the anime adaptation of Scenes From Awajima, also known as A Hundred Scenes of AWAJIMA. Shimura said she made no specific requests for the adaptation and that the production team worked carefully. She said the school drew partly on the Takarazuka Revue as a reference, and that the omnibus structure serves stories about people who are not geniuses.
Seta Engineering Co., Ltd. has begun collaboration with Hanoi-based WORK STATION Co., Ltd. under an exclusive business partnership. WORK STATION holds a database of over 40,000 science and engineering personnel built through partnerships with 20 major Vietnamese universities. Newzoo's "Free-to-play in 2026" report, published September 30, says free-to-play playtime is flat rather than declining, holding 29.3% of total playtime across 37 markets in 2025, down 2.9 points from 2021. PC playtime is rising while PlayStation and Xbox playtime falls. Three gacha RPGs, Wuthering Waves, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero, added 1.1 billion hours by 2025.
The Osaka Culture Expo Osaka Fringe 2026 runs for 32 days from October 8 to November 8 at more than 50 venues across Osaka City and other locations in the prefecture. The Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau announced details at a September 30 press conference. Chairman Mizuhata Hiroshi cited Edinburgh and Adelaide as reference points, and the program is styled on fringe festivals, where performances happen outside the official art festival circuit.
SOXAI RING X, a smart ring from Yokohama-based SOXAI Co., Ltd., reached 100,482,644 yen in total pledges and 2,868 backers within 72 hours of its Kickstarter launch. The company says the ring measures 5.19mm wide with up to 10 days of battery life. A working prototype is complete, and SOXAI plans manufacturing, inspection, and post-purchase support within Japan.
Bandai Spirits Collectors Division will commercialize the METAL BUILD Strike Gundam ENGINEERING EDITION, a monotone and transparent-finish version of the Strike Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED. The figure stands about 180mm and ships with a beam rifle, two Armor Schneiders, an anti-beam shield, interchangeable hands and antenna, and a dedicated pedestal set. The television anime of Full Clearing Another World under a Goddess with Zero Believers began streaming its first promotional video on Wednesday, previewing the opening theme "Mirai no Ashiato" by 310. Riki Fukushima directs at HORNETS, with Tōko Machida on scripts and Noriko Itō designing characters. Sōhei Horikane voices Makoto Takatsuki and Ikumi Hasegawa voices Noah. The anime premieres October 11 on BS Asahi and also runs on Tokyo MX and AT-X.
OceanVeil announced it will begin streaming the English dub of The Shy Snow Woman and the Cursed Ring on October 4. Jordan Woollen voices Satoru Takahashi, Leah Booth voices Mifuyu Yukino, and CottontailVA voices Kaede Kiryuin. Kevin Frane is the ADR director, with Laura K. Welsh on adaptation. The series started streaming early on AnimeFesta and OceanVeil on September 11, ahead of its Japanese television premiere on BS11 and Tokyo MX.
The November issue of Kadokawa's Monthly Shonen Ace announced that Katsura Ise and Takuma Yokota will launch a new miniseries for Destroy All Humans. They Can't Be Regenerated., their Magic: The Gathering manga, in the December issue on October 26. Titled -Timeshift-, it will run four chapters irregularly. Ise confirmed the short limited series on X. Viz Media releases the main manga in English.
MANGA Plus added four titles between late August and early September: KAKAKAKA by Mukade Makino, The Ura Files by Shun Numa and Yushin Kuroki, Noisering by Kanya Aki and Tsubasa, and Morino-san Just Won't Leave Me Be by Barako. The Ura Files launched simultaneously in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump and on MANGA Plus on August 31. KAKAKAKA is set in 17th-century Ming China; Noisering follows a sonarman after the Great Shizuoka Earthquake.
Crunchyroll announced on Wednesday that it will stream nine anime for the fall 2026 season, including Super Psychic Policeman Chojo, Dandivine, and Full Clearing Another World under a Goddess with Zero Believers. The slate runs from October 2 with Tougen Anki: Nikko Kegon Falls Arc through October 11 with Full Clearing Another World under a Goddess with Zero Believers. Magic Repo Man, From Far Away, and The Cold Sato-san is Only Sweet to Me arrive October 3, 4, and 6. A Certain Dark Item, HORROR COLLECTOR, and the Chinese-animated Paw & Palaces fill the October 9 and 10 slots. Crunchyroll also began streaming Detective Conan: The Counterfeit Crime Case of Ultra 30, which the outlet describes as the Detective Conan franchise's first new two-hour special in 10 years. Super Psychic Policeman Chojo adapts Shun Numa's manga about psychic officer Meguru Chojo and his partner Nao Ippongi. The anime premieres October 6 at 11:00 p.m. on Kansai TV and Fuji TV.
Northern Studio will release the PC dungeon survival game Abyss Ring on October 26, 2026, the developer announced on October 1. The game is a first-person action roguelike in which players descend into randomly generated dungeons, fight monsters with sword slashes and a shield, and cook the defeated creatures to manage hunger. Cooking combines monster ingredients with seasonings and items found in the dungeon, producing more than 200 dishes, including Minotaur Bowl, Orc Tonkatsu, Slime Jelly, and Dragon Steak. Each dish restores hunger, recovers HP and MP, or grants an experience-point multiplier, and dishes made from more dangerous monsters are more effective. Players level up when resting and can spend skill points on magic and passive skills, though the level resets each attempt. The full version adds cooking effects, floors, and enemies beyond the demo now on Steam. The release is set for 15:00 Japan time.

KURO GAMES announced that Wuthering Waves' Ver3.7 update, subtitled "Delusive Realm Bound by Mirrors, Red Dust Illuminated by the Heart," launches September 30. It closes out the Xuanfang arc of the Tidal Missions story with Act 4 of Chapter 4, adds the area Dreamhub Tianluo and its Heart Domain, introduces Fantastic Tale Missions with full voice acting, and adds two Resonators, Xin and Suoming, both with Tune Break.
Sony Music Solutions will hold "BLEACH FES.," a two-day event marking the completion of the Bleach TV anime, on February 27 and 28, 2027 at Makuhari Messe Makuhari Event Hall in Chiba. Fifteen voice actors are scheduled across the two days, including Masakazu Morita as Ichigo Kurosaki and Fumiko Orikasa as Rukia Kuchiki, with live voice recording among the programs. A teaser visual by character designer Masashi Kudo was released, referencing the cover of the manga's first volume. Tickets are 11,000 yen for general reserved seats and 15,000 yen for reserved seats with goods, a T-shirt set with embroidered patch and storage box. A lottery pre-sale runs from September 19 to October 31, with results from November 6. Razer has sold the Razer | Wuthering Waves Collection, a collaboration with the open-world action RPG Wuthering Waves, since September 4. VTuber Kujo Ringo is publishing "Zero kara Wakaru VTuber no Hajimekata! Haishin Debut kara Fan-zukuri, Shuekika made" through Sotechsha on September 28, 2026. The 240-page A5 book is priced at 2,200 yen and printed in two colors. It covers the work of starting as a VTuber and of staying one: concept planning, ordering art and models from illustrators and modelers, streaming software and equipment, publicity plans, pre-stream testing, collaborations, merchandise, 3D modeling and 3D live performances, taking on work, and health and mental care for the long run. Illustrator LAM, who designed Kujo Ringo's own look, drew the cover. Advance sales opened at 11:00 on September 14 at Shosen Book Tower in Akihabara, Tokyo. The Aichi Nagoya International Animation Film Festival announced its second edition, running November 13 to 18, 2026, at venues in Nagoya. The all-night program centers on a Kenji Kamiyama retrospective, including The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim and selections from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, with Kamiyama attending. Honami Yano, whose Eri was selected for Cannes Directors' Fortnight, created the main visual.
TORCH TORCH will sell five new T-shirts at Tokyo Game Show 2026 ahead of general release. The designs come from Elden Ring Nightreign, Elden Ring and Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon. The five characters are Lady, Libra the Night Demon, the Pursuer, Zolayus the Summoner and G5 Iguazu. Lady's shirt uses new art by painter Kaoru Aoki, and Libra's new art is by illustrator Pisha.
Publisher Starry Dome announced The Wandering Earth: The Last Full Moon, a third-person shooter developed by Surgical Scalpels, and released an announcement trailer. The game adapts Liu Cixin's short story The Wandering Earth. Its story is set at the end of the project's first phase, as the United Earth Government moves to use 12 lunar engines to push the Moon out of Earth's orbit. Combat takes place on the lunar surface and in space, and gravity changes how you fight.
The Aichi Nagoya International Animation Film Festival will devote its second all-night screening to director Kenji Kamiyama. The lineup includes The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex episode 12 Tachikoma's Homecoming: The Movie Director's Dream, two episodes of S.A.C. 2nd GIG, and Solid State Society. Kamiyama will speak at a talk event with guest Sanpo Sakai.
FromSoftware released an update for Elden Ring on September 8 that fixes a multiplayer bug allowing players to obtain items they normally cannot get under certain conditions. The update brings the App and Regulation version display to Ver. 1.17.1. The company's official X account noted the update does not apply to ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition, the Nintendo Switch 2 version that launched in August 2026 with the base game and its large expansion DLC.
Parade will roll out the Chiikawa Baby Rinrin Okao Mascot prize from mid-September at amusement facilities nationwide. Moonless Formless released the horror action RPG Withering Realms in early access on Steam for PC on September 5. Set in 1926, it follows ghost girl Clover and a doll companion through the town of Penwyll. The early access version includes a complete story, over 50 weapons, 70 talismans, 110 creatures, and 7 dungeons. The full version is planned for 2027.
The TV anime adaptation of Puuzaki Puuna's adult dōjin manga The Shy Snow Woman and the Cursed Ring will stream early on September 11 at 5:00 p.m. JST on AnimeFesta and WWWave Corporation's OceanVeil platform. Wandering Wonder Studio, the solo developer behind Puzzle Battler! Mirai and Mori Shooter! Nozomi, opened the Steam page for Kyoshin no Shinogi on September 3. The side-scrolling action game has a miko gyaru strengthen an ally giant god and fight enemy giant gods. It targets a 2027 PC release with Japanese full voice and subtitles, and controller play is recommended.
Pony Canyon announced on Friday that the second season of the Dark Gathering television anime will premiere in 2027. The announcement came with a new visual depicting the spirit of A Dam standing in a dimly lit inspection tunnel. Season 2 moves the story to Kyoto and begins adapting the manga from Chapter 34, 'Journey to the Capital,' which comes from Volume 9. The main cast returns, with Yū Sasahara as Yayoi Hōzuki, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Keitarō Gentōga, Kana Hanazawa as Eiko Hōzuki, and Rina Kawaguchi as Ai Kamiyo. OLM returns to animate, with Hiroshi Ikehata directing and Shigeru Murakoshi handling series composition. The first season aired from July to December 2023 over two consecutive cours, and HIDIVE streamed it as it aired. Kenichi Kondō launched the manga in Shueisha's Jump SQ. magazine in March 2019, and Viz Media releases it in English. The manga has surpassed 3 million copies in circulation.

KURO GAMES released development footage of Wuthering Waves Ver.3.7 characters Xin and Suoming. Xin is the Suizhu of Mengzhou, a near-divine being with a normal and white fox form. Suoming is the Zhoujian of Mengzhou from Titianguan. Both are of the Conduct attribute. The footage shows a special attack after switching that resembles Coordinated Attack.
Bandai Spirits will reissue the Chogokin Tamashii Mix Mechagodzilla (Noriyoshi Ohrai Poster Ver.) with new coloring, changing the subdued silver to a bluish glossy silver. The company also announced the S.H.MonsterArts Godzilla (Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla Poster Coloring Ver.) -Movie Graphic Plus- figure. Reservations open September 3, 2026.
Tama & Friends and the romance game Chikai no Kisu wa Totsuzen ni Love Ring are teaming up. The crossover runs September 1 to September 15 and adds avatar gacha, a room renovation gacha, and a special event on September 13, with Tama and the 3-chome friends visiting the game's world.
