Hololive Production is in the middle of its 9th anniversary, marked by a wave of events, merchandise, and live activations across Japan and overseas. The agency's first official smartphone game, 'hololive Dreams,' launched worldwide on July 23 for iOS, Android, and Steam after surpassing 1.5 million pre-registrations. It reached 1 million downloads on its first day and crossed 2 million by late August. In an earnings call, Cover's CEO and CFO described the game as a highly sustainable business pillar, with about 30% of current demand coming from overseas, and noted that the game has driven renewed interest in music videos and broader talent support.
The game's live-service content has been steady: a launch campaign added 25 songs over 15 days, the first in-game event 'Hello! Brand New Summer!' ran from July 28 to August 5, and a miComet event followed on August 7. QualiArts announced improvements to the Mission Pass free tier and other quality-of-life fixes. Physical tie-ins include a walking event in Yokohama in September and a music-and-fireworks event, Holo Hanabi 2026, on October 15 at Saitama Stadium 2002.
Beyond the game, anniversary activities span exhibitions, apparel collaborations, and figure releases. A nationwide touring exhibition, 'hololive Grand Reception,' begins in Tokyo on October 10. New apparel lines from XRAGE and VTee launched in August. Figure collaborations include Gundam-themed prize figures and high-end METAL ROBOT Soul pieces, with reservations open for several items. A two-day live event, 'hololive RECORDS MUSIC STAGE 2027,' is scheduled for January 2027 at K-Arena Yokohama, alongside an 11-CD history compilation. The agency will also hold a new program, hololiveNext, on September 7, the day Hololive Production marks its 9th anniversary, framed as the start of a countdown to the 10th anniversary.

Cover released the transcript of its fiscal year 2027 first-quarter earnings call on August 26. The call, held on August 12, included a Q&A session focused on the mobile and Steam game Hololive Dreams. The game launched worldwide on July 23 and surpassed 2 million downloads after reaching 1 million on its first day. During the call, CEO Motoaki Yago and CFO Yosuke Kaneko answered questions about the game's effect on other businesses, revenue contribution, and long-term sustainability. Yago said the game has brought previously buried content, especially music videos, back to the surface, and view counts are increasing. He also noted the possibility that users supporting a single talent may shift to supporting multiple talents or the entire group. Kaneko said about 30% of demand for the game currently comes from overseas, on a preliminary basis. Regarding revenue, Kaneko explained that because the project involves a co-development company, Cover cannot state the degree of upside on its own, but results are significantly above the conservative assumptions set at the start of the fiscal year. The company materials assess the game division as steadily getting off the ground as a highly sustainable business pillar.
