Alliance Arts released Touhou Koumakyou: New Classic ~ the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. on September 10 for PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. The game is a modern remake of the 2002 bullet hell shooter Touhou Koumakyou, led by original creator ZUN, and marks the first official Touhou Project shooting game on console platforms. It includes a New Classic version with high-resolution graphics and all BGM rearranged by ZUN, plus a Classic version that reproduces the 2002 game as faithfully as possible. The Classic version can inherit replays and save data from the original ver1.02h. New features include a Spell Practice mode and an unlimited lives mode for newcomers. The standard edition costs 1,990 yen, and a deluxe edition with a digital sound player app is 2,966 yen. The original source code was lost, so a programmer from the doujin circle AQUA STYLE independently analyzed the game and built a Switch version, which became the project's starting point. A DVD backup found at ZUN's home helped recreate character portraits. The New Classic version also supports 4K resolution.

During the Nintendo Direct broadcast on September 9, 2026, Imagineer announced a collaboration between its exercise game series Fit Boxing and the sword training simulation Touken Ranbu ONLINE. The new title, Fit Boxing Touken Ranbu -Shutsujin! Exercise Honmaru-, is scheduled for release on January 15, 2027, for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Players exercise alongside six sword warriors who appear as 3D instructors, including Mikazuki Munechika, Oodachi Yasusada, and Tsurumaru Kuninaga. The game includes a Nito Kenbu Mode that lets players train with two sword warriors at once. Continuing exercise unlocks daily episodes in which players communicate with the characters. The Fit Boxing series has previously released collaboration titles such as Fit Boxing Fist of the North Star and Fit Boxing feat. Hatsune Miku. Touken Ranbu content had appeared in Fit Boxing 2 only as BGM DLC from the anime Touken Ranbu -Hanamaru-, making this the first full collaboration between the two franchises. Reservations for the Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Nintendo Switch 2 opened at Nojima Online and Yodobashi.com on September 9. The console, priced at 62,980 yen, is scheduled to ship October 29 and carries Zelda design work on the Joy-Con 2 controllers and the dock, including Triforce motifs. Nojima Online is taking orders with a limit of one per household. The TV anime Chi Fuyo will premiere October 6 at midnight on the TV Tokyo network, with ABEMA and d Anime Store streaming. The manga adaptation of Hirotsugu Ryusen's She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man light novels will end with its 16th volume, which ships October 29. Dicca Suemitsu draws the adaptation, which launched on Micro Magazine's Comic Ride site in July 2016. Seven Seas licensed both the light novel and the manga. Nintendo revealed gameplay and new features for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake during a 40th Anniversary Direct on Tuesday, announcing a November 5 launch for the Nintendo Switch 2. TOHO streamed a new 1.43:1 IMAX trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero, the sequel to Godzilla Minus One directed by Takashi Yamazaki. The film is set in 1949, two years after the original. HORI will release the Electric Ocarina of Time in November for 7,980 yen. It is an electronic instrument modeled on the ocarina Link plays in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The Nintendo Switch 2 console picks up the instrument's sound and links it to some in-game effects in the Switch 2 version of the game. It is not played by blowing and cannot be used as a game controller. It has free play and auto play modes, a volume dial, and an earphone jack.

The staff for the television anime of Umikaze Minamino's Nia Liston: The Merciless Maiden light novel series revealed the second promotional video on Tuesday, along with four new cast members and confirmation that the series will run for two consecutive cours. The new video previews the opening theme song "Respawn!!" by VTuber Tsunomaki Watame. The four new cast members are Kōichi Sakaguchi as Bendelio, Junichi Suwabe as Hyurence Altoire, Maaya Uchida as Sharro White, and Kazuyuki Okitsu as Asuma. tobspr Games announced puzzlez - a shapez game on September 7, a spin-off that turns the studio's factory automation series into a compact puzzle game. It contains more than 75 handcrafted puzzles, from simple introductory lines to multi-layer problems, set in a compact 3D space rather than the sprawling factories of shapez 2. JINS has released the JINS×Chainsaw Man Large-Size Cleart, a 1,990 yen glasses cloth tied to the theatrical Chainsaw Man Reze Arc. The 250 by 250 millimeter cloth uses Toray's Tresy ultra-fine fiber and carries an illustration drawn specifically for the collaboration. Drecom will run a second Wizardry and Shigoto Neko collaboration pop-up shop in Tokyo from September 17 to October 31, 2026. Automaton played a pre-alpha co-op demo of 1001 Threads of Mizan at gamescom 2026. The writer chose Malik, a tank who fights with a shield that splits into two. The flying carpet is the standout feature: it handles movement, evasion, attack, and teammate rescue, and it sits at the center of combat design. Three-player co-op against large bosses worked naturally without pre-assigned roles. The game is in development for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Release timing is undecided.
