Game & Co. and Samurai Kobo will air the first terrestrial TV commercial for the trading card game Xross Stars from October 20, 2026, nationwide except in some regions. The stage play "'HUNTER×HUNTER' THE STAGE 4 Part 1" released its main visual and full cast for the Chimera Ant arc. Rento Nishiyama plays Gon and Niina Akutsu plays Killua, with Ryūji Satō as Meruem and Yumi Wakatsuki as Neferpitou. The Tokyo run is January 23 to February 7, 2027; Kyoto runs February 13 to 21, 2027.

Anime Anime surveyed the main Japanese streaming services in October 2026 and found no subscription option for Yamato yo Towa ni REBEL3199. DMM TV, U-NEXT, Amazon Prime Video, Lemino, Hulu and FOD carry it as per-chapter rentals, with chapter one at 1,100 yen and later chapters at 1,430 yen on most services. TSUTAYA DISCAS, d Anime Store, Netflix, Disney+, ABEMA and YouTube had no listing. The seventh film opens in theaters on October 30.

The non-credit opening and ending videos for Dragon Ball Super: Beerus have been released, along with scene cuts from Episode 1, "God of Destruction." The opening theme is "Onogami" by Megatera Zero and the ending theme is "Kanpeki no Peku" by Vaundy. The series restarts Dragon Ball Super as an enhanced version with new cuts, redrawn animation and restructured story. It airs on Fuji TV network Sundays at 23:15.

The second season of the live-action series of Ogeretsu Tanaka's Renai Rubi no Tadashii Furikata manga adds Rina Komiyama as Maki Oda, Takumi Bando as Kyosuke Hiiragi, and Tamami Sakaguchi as Matsuri Inui. The October 29 debut is on Tokyo MX1. Nanami Asahi, Saya Emori, and Tetsunori Akira return, with Genki Iwahashi and Satoru Soma reprising Hiromu Suzuki and Natsuo Washizawa. Yasuki Sato directs and Motoko Takahashi writes scripts.

Episode 1 of Hotaru's Marriage, "Unwanted Repayment," airs Friday, October 9 on Fuji TV's Noitamina block. Satoko Kirigaya, voiced by Lynn, is targeted and kidnapped, and proposes marriage to the hitman Shinpei Goto, voiced by Koki Uchiyama, to survive. david production animates the adaptation of Oreko Tachibana's manga, directed by Takahiro Kamei.

The 13th New Chitose Airport International Animation Film Festival runs November 20 to 24 at the New Chitose Airport Terminal Building, with more than 60 programs. The lineup includes a special screening and solo talk by Mai Yoneyama, an advance screening of Shingo Natsume's 'ghost／Night's End', a screening of Atsushi Nishigori's 'GROTESQQQUE', a selection screening of 'Goodbye Lara' with director Takashi Koide, and a PERIMETRON retrospective.

Yamaha Corporation announced VOCALOID7 on October 9. The VOCALOID7 Editor is scheduled for release on November 11 at 16,500 yen including tax. Users of VOCALOID3 through VOCALOID6 can buy an upgrade version for 8,580 yen including tax, and from November 11 to December 20 that upgrade costs 5,500 yen including tax. All voicebanks from VOCALOID3 through VOCALOID6 remain usable, and both the standard and upgrade versions include the voicebank asa. Buyers who purchase VOCALOID6 Editor on or after October 9 receive a 5,500 yen coupon for the VOCALOID SHOP. Internet Co., Ltd. will release VOCALOID7 Voicebank AI Megpoid the same day at 16,500 yen including tax, or 13,200 yen when bought with the editor. That voicebank is produced based on the voice of singer and voice actor Megumi Nakajima and is optimized for VOCALOID7's AI technology.

IzanagiGames announced on October 9, 2026 that the Steam version of AKIBA LOST will release on October 21. The live-action suspense game stars former Kis-My-Ft2 member Hiromitsu Kitayama as Daiki Shinjo, a game creator investigating the Akiba Kamikakushi case that took six girls 13 years ago. Console versions launched September 17 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, while the Steam launch slipped on release day over platform-side review. The game is priced at 5,500 yen including tax. IzanagiGames is raising the two-week launch discount from 10 percent to 20 percent, adding 200 buddy character stills to the gallery, and offering dot-art wallpapers for PC and smartphones. Those additions are also planned for the console versions later. The game presents the stories of six women zapped between in real time, with choices that branch and can alter the ending. A demo is available on each platform.

At an IMAX revival screening of Godzilla-1.0 at TOHO Cinemas Hibiya on the 8th, director Takashi Yamazaki said the film opened all kinds of doors for him and recalled Mio Tanaka emerging from the new film so worn out he thought he might collapse. Tanaka, who plays Tatsuo Hotta, said he cried after watching it. Godzilla-0.0 releases in less than a month.

Hobby Sakura is releasing a 1/6 scale figure of Kuse's original character Asako Fuyuyama, posed in a white bikini and sunglasses on a shell-shaped beach bed. The standard edition is priced at 21,450 yen on Amazon.co.jp, while a Deluxe Edition at 24,200 yen adds a cloth bonus. Both are scheduled for release on June 30, 2027.

Magazine House puts the film on the cover of the anan issue 2515 special edition, on sale October 14. Andrew Koji (Ryu), Callina Liang (Chun-Li), and Noah Centineo (Ken) appear in their in-film costumes. The 9-page feature carries newly shot gravure, role preparation and a six-week training camp, and an interview with Capcom's Takayuki Nakayama. A pixel-art sticker set covers all 10 characters.

Natsume-sha will publish 'NINJA,' a Japanese-English bilingual book on ninja history and culture, on Thursday, October 15. Yuji Yamada, a Mie University professor and president of the International Ninja Research Association, supervises. The A6 format book runs 160 pages in all color at 1,650 yen. It covers ninja attire, tools and weapons, ninjutsu, ninja mansions, philosophy, and daily life across six parts, with illustrations.

Daiki Yamazaki's solo music project, Nemuri ni Tsuku Made Tsuki atte, will hold nemtsuki LIVE 2026-2027 'Aizuchi' across four venues in three cities, starting December 22, 2026. Dates continue December 26, 2026, January 11, 2027, and January 17, 2027. Venues are Shibuya CHELSEA HOTEL, Nagoya HeartLand, HEAVEN'S ROCK Saitama Shintoshin, and Shibuya Star lounge.
