DELTARUNE Chapter 5 Released, Steam Concurrent Players Hit 290,000
Toby Fox released Chapter 5 of DELTARUNE on June 25 as a free update for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. The chapter sends protagonist Kris and friends into a Japanese-style world filled with blooming flowers. On Steam, the game reached an all-time high of approximately 290,000 concurrent players, more than double the peak of about 130,000 seen when Chapters 3 and 4 launched in June 2025. A soundtrack was also released alongside the chapter, with a note advising players not to look at track titles until they finish the chapter. In a newsletter published on June 24, Fox stated that development of Chapter 6 is progressing smoothly and that it would not be surprising if work on Chapter 7 begins before the end of the year. The UNDERTALE official X account briefly blacked out its name and header, which outlets linked to the Chapter 5 release. Fox commented, "Enjoy this crazy work I thought up 10 years ago. Now back to working on the next chapter."
