Street Fighter 6 entered its fourth year with a deliberate shift in character strategy. Capcom announced at Summer Game Fest 2026 that Year 4 would introduce three new original fighters and one guest character, with no returning series characters for the first time since launch. Yasmin, a high school girl from the Philippines who uses Eskrima and a karambit knife, arrived first on August 3, followed by Arjun in fall 2026, Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII Remake in early spring 2027, and Bosch from World Tour mode in late 2027. The Tifa collaboration, discussed for about three years, was confirmed by producer Shuhei Matsumoto and director Takayuki Nakayama.
The August 3 update also brought the first overall battle balance adjustment of Year 4, a system-wide rebalance that affects competitive play across all platforms. The game's competitive scene remained active through the summer. MenaRD won both Blink Respawn 2026 and EVO 2026, securing a Capcom Cup 13 spot and a second consecutive EVO main event title. Tokido won CEO 2026, his first Capcom Pro Tour win since 2024. The Street Fighter League Japan 2026 season began August 25 with a new team, Riddle Order, and a two-division format.
Capcom continued to support the game with live-service events and collaborations. The third anniversary in June brought an SNS Avatar Contest, a special V-Rival featuring producer Matsumoto, and a SHOP Sale. Merchandise collaborations expanded, with GRAPHT releasing items covering all 31 playable characters and GALLERIA launching Street Fighter 6-themed PCs while sponsoring the league. The game also topped Steam sales rankings in Japan twice during the period, boosted by a 50 percent discount.
