Square Enix will accept entries for SQUARE ENIX GAME CONTEST 2026 from December 15, 2026, through March 15, 2027, the company's executive officer Yosuke Saito said in an interview. The contest carries a total prize pool of 1 billion yen, and the company says it will always choose winning entries from the submitted works. Saito, who supervises the contest's operations office, described the plan as a way to support developers who build games around original ideas, whatever their team size. SIGQ Inc. has begun offering Incident Lake Self-Hosted, a packaged version of its AI incident commander that runs inside a customer's VPC, data center, or on-premises network. The self-developed incident-response model Otter runs in the same environment, so no inference goes to an external Public LLM API. SIGQ cites National Police Agency materials reporting 123 ransomware incidents in the first half of 2026.

THQ Nordic Japan released the ninth update for Wreckfest 2 on October 16. The early access PC game adds two courses, The Drome - Deathloop 2 and Hogtown Arena, each with an alternate layout, plus three vehicles: The Blade, The Flipper, and The Hammerhead. Two game modes arrive, Demolition Derby and Chase, along with six challenge events, multiplayer and AI improvements, a new AI vehicle set, and memory optimization.

Kadokawa has opened pre-orders for Nino Nakano and Miku Nakano plastic models in its KADOKAWA PLASTIC MODEL SERIES, tied to the TV special anime The Quintessential Quintuplets. Both are assembly kits about 165mm tall with molded and pre-painted color, three facial expression parts each, and optional parts such as a school bag and smartphone. Kadostore orders include a bonus expression part, and Nino's listing also has a special set. The Kadostore deadline is November 25, 2026.

Amazon has begun free distribution of two PC titles for Prime members. Caravan SandWitch, an exploration adventure set on the desertified planet Cigalo, is available until December 17, 2026. Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong is available until November 19, 2026. Both can be kept without limit after acquisition. Caravan SandWitch has no combat, no death, and no time limit.

Q-Games announced on October 16 that it will publish Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch in Japan and other Asian regions for Nintendo Switch 2. The game releases on October 22 at 2,480 yen including tax, with the Nintendo Store page going live the same day. Atlantis Studio, an indie team based in Avignon, France, developed the title. It is a two-player-only asymmetric co-op horror game. One player is the Explorer, moving through a claustrophobic mansion in first person, searching for clues and solving puzzles. The other is the Watcher, staying on the surveillance cameras and using tools and documents to guide the partner. Neither player holds all the information, and both must talk constantly to escape the entity called the Grome, which is drawn to loud noise. Multiplayer support covers local play, local communication, online play, and GameShare, which lets a second console, either a Switch 2 or a Switch, join with one copy.

ASML CEO Christophe Fouquet said the company is struggling to meet demand for 2027 and 2028, with some customers weighing orders for 2029 and 2030. The Dutch maker holds about 90% of the lithography equipment market and can build roughly 50 EUV units a year. Third-quarter 2026 net sales were 11.66 billion euros and net income 4.96 billion euros, both record figures, with fourth-quarter sales projected at 15.2 billion euros.

QREATION handled planning and production for Yoshinoya's vertical short home comedy 'Yoshino-san Chi no Yonshimai'. The series follows four sisters who love gyudon and their father, Kazuya Yoshino, played by Kazuya Kojima. The eldest daughter Wako is played by Mikey Sato, the second daughter Sakura by Sakura, the third daughter Osaki by Osaki, and the fourth daughter Risa by Risa Masuda. Square, the payment service founded by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, announced Square Kiosk, a restaurant payment terminal with a 21.5-inch display and three directional microphones. It shows menus, suggests items based on store location and time of day, takes orders by voice, and accepts card payments. Price is $1,999 with a $99 monthly software fee. At the time of writing it is sold only in the United States, in English.

Manavu Kashimoto launched a new manga, Tantei Neko Machida (Detective Neko Machida), on Shogakukan's Weekly Coro Coro Comic online magazine on Tuesday. The mystery series follows detective Neko Machida and his assistant Myako as they solve difficult cases. Kashimoto's Croquette! debuted in Monthly Coro Coro Comics in 2001 and inspired a 2003 television anime; its sequel, Croquette! Black Label, ended in May 2025.

The official website for Atsushi Nishigori's original anime film Grotesqqque confirmed on Wednesday that the film will feature "TERASE," sung by Mika Ichinose, one of the music contributors for the "A(E)liens" story. Ken Kamikita wrote the lyrics, scored and arranged the music. The song is available on music services, and a collaboration music video with the film is streaming. The film opens in Japan on November 6.
