Former showrunner Steve Maeda said on the Trash Taste podcast that Eiichiro Oda rejected an early version of Netflix's One Piece live-action adaptation after a new executive asked for the budget to be cut in half and the season reduced from 10 episodes to eight. Maeda said the revised scripts drifted from the manga, and Oda told Netflix it was not what he had agreed to.
BANDAI SPIRITS will take reservations for "BANPRESTO Kuji PREMIUM One Piece - Dracule Mihawk -" at store counters from October 23 to November 1. The YOUTH TIME JAPAN project surveyed 1,334 high school students, 614 boys and 720 girls, from September 10 to September 24, 2026, and released the results on Anime Day, October 22. Doraemon is the only title in both top fives. Boys named Attack on Titan first, then One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Doraemon. Girls named Haikyu!! first, then Demon Slayer, Crayon Shin-chan, Detective Conan and Doraemon.
Bandai Namco Entertainment released One Piece: Ocean's Delicious Restaurant for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on October 22, 2026, with the PC version via Steam and the iOS and Android versions set for October 23. Kairosoft, the studio behind a long line of pixel-art management simulations, developed the game. The story starts when a fake version of the sea restaurant Baratie appears, and Luffy and Sanji open a second branch to out-earn the impostor. Players run that branch as a customizable rookie staff member: sending companions on outings for ingredients and recipes, building set menus from a main dish, side dish, drink, and dessert, decorating tables, and buying facilities. Kairosoft's pixel art carries the presentation, and the roster reaches over 400 characters, from early figures like Koby and Gaimon to Loki and Gunko from the Elbaph Arc. Nine minigames sit alongside the management loop, and the Switch 2 version supports Joy-Con 2 mouse controls. More than 200 types of furniture and interior items are included.
The One Piece Mugiwara Store Los Angeles opens November 6 at the Westfield Century City shopping center. From November 6 to 12, entry is limited to guests with advance reservations, which begin October 22. After November 12 the store opens to the public, though walk-in entry depends on capacity and a standby line is not guaranteed. Merchandise includes shirts, hoodies, mugs, figures, clear cards, key chains, and wrapping cloth. Prices are not announced.
Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump editorial department is running an all-applicant offer for the "ONE PIECE Card Game" Premium Card Collection Nike Collaboration Edition. The set includes Don!! Premium Bandai has opened preorders for "Variable Action Heroes ONE PIECE 'Whitebeard' Edward Newgate Ver.1.5," priced at 22,000 yen with shipping scheduled for May 2027. The figure is a re-release of the 2017 Whitebeard release, standing about 240mm tall with two facial expression parts, a removable cloth cape, and an extra-large effect part for the Gura Gura no Mi powers.

The One Piece Card Game announced on Monday that To Love-Ru manga artist Kentaro Yabuki is providing an illustration of Nami for the One Piece Heroines Edition vol.2 [EB-05] booster set, releasing October 31. The card comes in two variations. The set is the game's second extra booster set. The English One Piece social accounts teased it with a short promotional video on Monday.
BANDAI SPIRITS will open pre-orders for One Piece World Collectable Figure PREMIUM Cross Guild on Premium Bandai's e-BANPRESTO on Friday, October 9, 2026 at 2:00 PM. The set covers all 10 types: Buggy, Crocodile, Dracule Mihawk, Alvida, Cabaji, Mohji, Richie, Mr. 1 (Daz Bones), Mr. 3 (Galdino), and a Cross Guild Mark. Mihawk and Crocodile each include a chair. MegaHouse will release a figure of Loki, the Cursed Prince of One Piece's Elbaph arc, as the second entry in its Portrait.Of.Pirates Elevated Boost line, branded ELB-MAXIMUM. The painted PVC and ABS figure stands about 310mm to the top of the head, 285mm to the horn tips, with total width around 410mm. Wit Studio president George Wada said Attack on Titan was the only project the studio considered for its first anime. Speaking with Anime News Network at Anime Expo 2026, Wada said he chose Hajime Isayama's manga because it fit director Tetsuro Araki and because the studio's own situation matched the story. "It was the only one," he said when asked whether other options were discussed. Wada said the series helped Japanese anime reach audiences worldwide and showed what Japanese animation could do. Bandai Namco's One Piece: Grand Gourmet, demoed at Tokyo Game Show 2026, is a restaurant management game. The Baratie has been taken over by pirates, its reputation ruined. After Luffy and the Straw Hats retake the ship, players rebuild it as Baratie Number Two by setting menus, installing seating and decor, and traveling the world for customers and ingredients. The game's website lists over 400 characters to encounter, rendered in pixel art.
Bandai Spirits is releasing an S.H.Figuarts Monkey D. Luffy figure based on his appearance at the time of entering the New World, priced at 4,400 yen with tax. An MPA report on the anime economy finds Netflix anime views rose from 3.33 billion hours in the first half of 2023 to 4.64 billion in the first half of this year, a 39% gain against 4.5% for total viewing. Anime went from 3.6% to 4.75% of all Netflix hours. The MPA now expects global anime spending to grow about 10% a year to 2030.

A One Piece Card Game card valued at $8,000 was stolen from Key Items Collectibles inside the Berkshire Mall in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, on August 28, 2026. The missing card is the Sabo Red Manga Alternate Art card, graded PSA 10 Gem Mint by Professional Sports Authenticator, and police believe fewer than 2,000 copies exist. The Wyomissing Police Department is searching for two suspects captured on the store's CCTV footage. One suspect distracted the store owner while the other reached across the counter and removed the card from an unlocked display case. One suspect wore a light-colored Corona T-shirt and a red baseball cap; the second wore a black baseball cap, a black Nike T-shirt with orange lettering, and floral shorts. The PSA slab carries a unique security number that lets owners flag the item as stolen in the official database, and breaking the seal would drop the card's value from $8,000 to roughly $200. "So you're not going to be able to sell it for, you know, what it's worth," said Max Hirneisen, owner of Symbiote Collectibles, to 69News. The theft follows other high-value trading card robberies in Pennsylvania and New Jersey this year.

McDonald's is bringing SpongeBob SquarePants and One Piece together for a Happy Meal collaboration launching September 15, 2026. The company began streaming an animated commercial on Monday that shows SpongeBob characters dressed as One Piece's Straw Hat Pirates and antagonists, following an initial teaser image posted on August 13 that featured SpongeBob as Luffy. The U.S. collection includes 15 exclusive toys, with SpongeBob appearing as both Luffy and Gear 5 Luffy. Other pairings include Patrick as Zoro, Sandy as Nami, Plankton as Usopp, Squidward as Sanji, Gary as Chopper, Pearl as Robin, Larry as Franky, Smitty as Brook, Mr. Krabs as Jinbe, Mermaid Man as Garp, Barnacle Boy as Koby, Mrs. Puff as Big Mom, and Flying Dutchman as Blackbeard.
