Dynamis One is developing Astraea Oratio, a new legend magic RPG that combines magic and administration. The setting is a nostalgic 89 Tokyo, with art director Kim In aiming for hand-drawn warmth rather than clean digital polish. The protagonist is a lone bureaucrat who cannot use magic, assigned to an unidentified government office where he handles problems caused by magic users. Stars appear throughout key visuals, character screens, and battle effects, tied to lore that defines magic as people's wishes turned into stars.
The spin-off Number One Sentai Gojuujaa Polar Beginning, streamed on the Toei Tokusatsu Fan Club since April 2026, reaches Blu-ray on January 13, 2027. TOHO streamed a new 1.43:1 IMAX trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero, the sequel to Godzilla Minus One directed by Takashi Yamazaki. The film is set in 1949, two years after the original. It opens in Japan on November 3 and in North America on November 6, the first time a Japan-produced Godzilla film opens in both regions the same week. It is also the first Japanese film to qualify for the "Filmed for IMAX" label.
A One Piece Card Game card valued at $8,000 was stolen from Key Items Collectibles inside the Berkshire Mall in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, on August 28, 2026. The missing card is the Sabo Red Manga Alternate Art card, graded PSA 10 Gem Mint by Professional Sports Authenticator, and police believe fewer than 2,000 copies exist. The Wyomissing Police Department is searching for two suspects captured on the store's CCTV footage. One suspect distracted the store owner while the other reached across the counter and removed the card from an unlocked display case. One suspect wore a light-colored Corona T-shirt and a red baseball cap; the second wore a black baseball cap, a black Nike T-shirt with orange lettering, and floral shorts. The PSA slab carries a unique security number that lets owners flag the item as stolen in the official database, and breaking the seal would drop the card's value from $8,000 to roughly $200. "So you're not going to be able to sell it for, you know, what it's worth," said Max Hirneisen, owner of Symbiote Collectibles, to 69News. The theft follows other high-value trading card robberies in Pennsylvania and New Jersey this year.
Beast Studios released a new trailer for the open-world survival game Never Be Alone, set 10 years after an outbreak. The game supports solo and co-op play across three islands with over 30 story missions and 11 types of infected. A demo arrives October 19, and early access begins December 8 on Steam. KADOKAWA announced on September 8 that it will consolidate five of its anime production subsidiaries into a new company, Studio One Base, scheduled to be established in November 2026. The five studios are ENGI, Studio KADAN, Chiptune, Bellnox Films, and Raging Bull. The new company will be a wholly owned subsidiary of KADOKAWA, headquartered at the new anime production hub inside Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, which also carries the Studio One Base name and is scheduled to open in September 2026. The consolidation is the third phase of KADOKAWA's initiative "Create the people who create. Create the place to create." The company cites industry-wide challenges including talent shortages and rising production costs as the background for the move. Management and back-office functions will be centralized, while each studio's name, branding, and production lines will be maintained. KADOKAWA says its group anime studios have produced a combined 48 works and 486 episodes since 2018. Takeshi Kikuchi will serve as president of the new company, which is expected to have approximately 310 employees.

Toru Shinagawa, the actor and voice actor known for roles in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Fancy Lala, and the Fullmetal Alchemist live-action films, died on August 29. He was 90. His agency Knockout announced the death on Monday, stating he had been undergoing treatment for lymphoma. Shinagawa was born in Hokkaido in 1935 and worked across stage, film, television, and voice acting.
Akupara Games announced Bonespire at its Akupara Direct on September 7. The crafting sim comes from Paul Hart and Lee Williams, the Cryptmaster duo. Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 18 Pro series at a special event on September 9 (September 10 in Japan), and price projections from Taiwan's TrendForce suggest a significant increase over the current models. According to TrendForce's smartphone market research released September 3, the iPhone 18 series could cost 10 to 20 percent more than the previous generation. U.S. outlet MacRumors applied TrendForce's earlier June forecast of a 14 to 18 percent rise to these projections, estimating the iPhone 18 Pro will start at 1,249 to 1,299 dollars, or roughly 220,000 to 230,000 yen in Japan, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max could start at 1,349 to 1,399 dollars, about 230,000 to 250,000 yen. That would mark an increase of roughly 25,000 to 35,000 yen over the current iPhone 17 Pro, which starts at 1,099 dollars (194,800 yen in Japan), and the iPhone 17 Pro Max at 1,199 dollars (214,800 yen in Japan). TrendForce attributes the higher prices mainly to surging memory costs, which it says could rise nearly 400 percent year over year for the 256GB Pro model in the third quarter of 2026. Total component costs for that model are seen climbing about 38 percent year over year.

AUGUST Inc. announced on September 3 that it is developing Uta Macross, a buy-to-play rhythm game based on the smartphone title Uta Macross: Smartphone De Culture, which ended service in 2022. The game is planned for Steam, iOS, and Android with a release around spring 2027. A crowdfunding campaign on CAMPFIRE runs from September 10 at 20:00 through October 31 at 23:59, with funds going toward platform expansion and new song additions via DLC. The base package includes roughly 50 songs, more than 1,000 plates of rarity ★4 or higher, and over 20 costumes per singer, all available from the start. The documentary film 'John Lennon & Yoko Ono: One to One' will open January 1, 2027, with an advance screening in IMAX, and the trailer and scene stills are now out. McDonald's is bringing SpongeBob SquarePants and One Piece together for a Happy Meal collaboration launching September 15, 2026. The company began streaming an animated commercial on Monday that shows SpongeBob characters dressed as One Piece's Straw Hat Pirates and antagonists, following an initial teaser image posted on August 13 that featured SpongeBob as Luffy. The U.S. collection includes 15 exclusive toys, with SpongeBob appearing as both Luffy and Gear 5 Luffy. Other pairings include Patrick as Zoro, Sandy as Nami, Plankton as Usopp, Squidward as Sanji, Gary as Chopper, Pearl as Robin, Larry as Franky, Smitty as Brook, Mr. Krabs as Jinbe, Mermaid Man as Garp, Barnacle Boy as Koby, Mrs. Puff as Big Mom, and Flying Dutchman as Blackbeard. Warner Bros. Discovery is bringing its HBO Max streaming service to Japan as add-on subscriptions inside two existing platforms. On September 1, Prime Video announced a partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery that puts HBO Max inside the Prime Video app from October 1. Hulu Japan, owned by Nippon Television, announced the same day that it will launch a new brand, HBO Max on Hulu, also on October 1. The Prime Video offering has two plans: Standard at 1,000 yen per month with up to 1080p, and Premium at 1,400 yen per month with 4K UHD. At launch, subscribers can watch all seasons of House of the Dragon, The Last of Us, Game of Thrones, Sex and the City, and Euphoria, along with films such as Barbie and One Battle After Another. Season 1 of the new HBO original Harry Potter series, titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, is scheduled to premiere at Christmas. The Hulu Japan deal also includes exploring international distribution of Nippon Television and Hulu Japan content on HBO Max.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports that Apple has built and tested an internal prototype Apple Pencil designed for the foldable iPhone, unofficially called the iPhone Ultra. The prototype is shorter than the regular Apple Pencil to match the device size. Gurman notes the accessory could scratch the delicate screen, and that releasing one would contradict Steve Jobs' well-known dislike of styluses.
