In battle, she uses a contact lens-type device called R-MN-T, developed by the character NiCO, to copy techniques from other fighters and combine them with her own dance moves. Her unique stance, the Minato Shuffle, lets players launch powerful throws or kicks that can cause a Fatal Stun, and she can switch to defense mid-attack, offering depth for advanced players. The character is designed to be easy for beginners, with clear and eye-catching moves, while still having a high skill ceiling. Producer Yosuke Hayashi and main planner Takeshi Inai explained that Minato was created to attract newcomers and bring a current, relatable feel to the series, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary. The update also includes three unlockable costumes for Minato, and the developers have announced plans for a global tournament series called the DEAD OR ALIVE 6 Last Round Championship.

The executive committee behind INDIE Live Expo opened general applications for INDIE Waves, the flagship corner of the December 1 broadcast, on September 2. In Japan, the release falls on November 18 due to the time difference. The game is developed by Doot Tiny Games, the studio of Dorian Signargout, in collaboration with artist Doriane Randria, known together for the Japanese shopping street simulation Welcome to Minami Street. The player controls Neha, a girl who moves to a rural ranch with her cow partner Milki. She delivers milk by bicycle to residents, manages stamina and time, and gathers resources to upgrade her bike and barn. The setting is a peaceful countryside once called a paradise for cows, where the cows have since disappeared. The game is a short adventure lasting two to four hours. A demo has been available on Steam since June and has received a Very Positive rating. The developers' previous works, including Welcome to Minami Street and the insect collecting game Kabuto Park, hold an Overwhelmingly Positive status on Steam.

Nijisanji VTuber Fuwa Minato announced a new single and a second solo live on August 31. The second live-action film in the Golden Kamuy adaptation, 'Golden Kamuy: Abashiri Prison Assault Arc,' will stream on Netflix from September 13. Kento Yamazaki returns as Sugimoto Saichi, with Anna Yamada as Asirpa. The film adapts the manga's biggest battle arc, set at Abashiri Prison.
Creator sooncha announced on Friday that they have withdrawn the copyright for Yang Can't Live Alone from Square Enix. The manga ended on Manga UP! on August 13. sooncha will move the series to an unnamed company, with a new revised edition to be published in Japan physically and digitally. Square Enix will stop digital distribution on August 31. Translated versions remain available until their agreements end.

Cover released the transcript of its fiscal year 2027 first-quarter earnings call on August 26. The call, held on August 12, included a Q&A session focused on the mobile and Steam game Hololive Dreams. The game launched worldwide on July 23 and surpassed 2 million downloads after reaching 1 million on its first day. During the call, CEO Motoaki Yago and CFO Yosuke Kaneko answered questions about the game's effect on other businesses, revenue contribution, and long-term sustainability. Yago said the game has brought previously buried content, especially music videos, back to the surface, and view counts are increasing. He also noted the possibility that users supporting a single talent may shift to supporting multiple talents or the entire group. Kaneko said about 30% of demand for the game currently comes from overseas, on a preliminary basis. Regarding revenue, Kaneko explained that because the project involves a co-development company, Cover cannot state the degree of upside on its own, but results are significantly above the conservative assumptions set at the start of the fiscal year. BANDAI SPIRITS has announced the productization of two new prize figures in the hololive IF series, which imagines various situations for Hololive members. The first colored prototypes of the figures were revealed on August 27, 2026, via the Banpresto Brand X account. The lineup pairs Houshou Marine with the Crossbone Gundam X1 and Usada Pekora with the Unicorn Gundam, both in a Nui Armor (Plush Armor) style. Sanrio announced on August 20, 2026 that its in-house game brand Sanrio Games will exhibit at Tokyo Game Show 2026, held at Makuhari Messe from September 17 to 21. The brand, launched in April 2026, will occupy two areas: a general exhibition booth in Hall 8 and the Family Game Park 2026 at TKP Tokyo Bay Makuhari Hall. Attendees can try the party game Sanrio Party Land, scheduled for release on October 29 for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, and the smartphone rhythm game Sanrio Kawaii Me Live!, planned for 2027. The booth will also debut wall-sized game illustrations of the Knights and Lords from Fragaria Memories Color of Wishes. Hello Kitty, Kuromi, My Melody, Pompompurin, and Cinnamoroll will appear at the booth, with a DJ performance by Kuromi and a live show by Pompompurin. Talk stages feature Shizuku from Polkadot Stingray for Sanrio Kawaii Me Live! and voice actors Gakuto Kajiwara and Shunsuke Takeuchi for Fragaria Memories Color of Wishes. Visitors receive limited-edition sun visors.
