A third parallel World of Warcraft line, built by the Classic team and covered by the same subscription, divides Blizzard's audience by play style rather than by expansion cycle.

Blizzard Announces World of Warcraft: Forever, Out November 4

Blizzard Entertainment announced World of Warcraft: Forever at its community event BlizzCon2026. The team behind WoW: Classic is developing it, and it becomes the third World of Warcraft experience alongside Modern and Classic. It adds three zones, more than 1,000 quests, nine dungeons, two raids, and the new race Skyborn. Release is scheduled for November 4, with a beta starting September 17. Access comes with a World of Warcraft subscription.

The Classic team is building the new line, not the Modern one, which puts the people who have spent years running legacy servers in charge of new content. The scale is closer to an expansion than a side mode: three zones, more than 1,000 quests, nine dungeons, two raids, and a new playable race called Skyborn.

Access is included with the World of Warcraft subscription, and buyers of the Skyborne Edition or the Warcraft Forever collection can enter the beta from September 17. Release is set for November 4 on PC for Windows and Mac.
