Vinland Saga Author Says Season 3 Is Not in Production
Three years after Season 2 ended, the only person who would know first is saying nothing is moving, and the finished manga means the delay is not a source-material problem.

Makoto Yukimura replied to a fan on X on Oct. 22, 2026, saying he has no good news about a third Vinland Saga season and that it is not currently in progress. The series has never received a formal announcement or production greenlight. The manga finished its 20-year run in July 2025 at 220 chapters across 29 volumes.
Yukimura was answering fan queries on social media after a high volume of fan mail sent to Kodansha. He replied directly to a fan who asked for positive news, apologised, and said there was none.
The update is not a cancellation. No third season was ever formally announced. After Season 2 ended in June 2023, chief animation director Takahiko Abiru posted celebratory artwork with the Roman numeral III and the line "Thorfinn's journey will continue," and staff later said the post was not an official announcement. In January 2026, Yukimura said no information about a continuation had reached him.
