To Love-Ru Darkness Mugs Put The Lip Mark Where The Right Hand Sees It

Banpresto read the mug's handle orientation as a placement decision rather than a default, so the prize is built around the side of the mug the holder actually looks at.

To Love-Ru Darkness Mugs Put The Lip Mark Where The Right Hand Sees It

Banpresto Brand announced the crane game prize To Love-Ru Darkness Mug vol.1 on October 13, 2026. The set has four mugs, about 9 cm each, using Lala, Nana, Momo, and Nishirenji illustrations drawn by Kentaro Yabuki for the To Love-Ru 15th Anniversary Original Art Exhibition finale in Tokyo in January 2023. Each illustration sits on the handle-left side, so a lip mark on the back faces the holder. It appears from October 15, 2026 at amusement spots and online crane games.

The illustration side is not the side a right-handed drinker sees. Banpresto put each character on the handle-left face and the lip mark on the back, which means the mark is what comes up when the mug is held in the right hand. The four designs come from Kentaro Yabuki's illustrations for the To Love-Ru 15th Anniversary Original Art Exhibition finale in Tokyo in January 2023. Reaction online leaned toward the mechanics of the idea as much as the art, and toward Nana in particular.

  • Lala: illustration by Kentaro Yabuki

  • Momo: illustration by Kentaro Yabuki
  • Nishirenji: illustration by Kentaro Yabuki
