Tenmaku no Jadougal Screens Unaired Acts 3 and 4 at Japan Expo 2026

TV Asahi producer Kazuki Endo presented a special screening of the anime Tenmaku no Jadougal at Japan Expo 2026 in Paris on July 10, 2026. The event screened Acts 1 through 4, including Acts 3 and 4, which had not yet aired in Japan. Before the screening, Endo discussed the adaptation process, the decision to commission Studio Science SARU, and the production team's location hunting in Mongolia. The team, including chief director Naoko Yamada and director Abel Gongora, stayed with nomadic families in gers to research 13th-century Mongol culture. Endo also described close collaboration with original author Tomato Soup, who provided reference materials and historical verification with multiple experts. The anime airs Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. on TV Asahi's IMAnimation slot across 24 stations and streams on Crunchyroll in over 200 countries. The original manga won first place in the women's category of Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2023 and the Comic Division Grand Prize at the 55th Japan Cartoonists Association Awards. The venue was packed with fans, and applause followed the screening.

Producer Kazuki Endo said he chose Studio Science SARU because of the challenge of animating the original's deformed character designs. "Rather than drawing realistic, high-proportioned humans, it's surprisingly difficult to flexibly move these deformed characters," Endo told the audience. "I thought only Science SARU, which has been continuously taking on artistic challenges, could do it."

The voice cast includes Akira Sekine as Shitara and Ami Koshimizu as Doregene. The opening theme is SEKAI NO OWARI's "Stella," and the ending theme is Queen Bee's "Hoshi." In Japan the series streams on Netflix, Prime Video, ABEMA, and U-NEXT in addition to the TV broadcast on TV Asahi's IMAnimation slot.

The original manga ranked in the Manga Taisho for two consecutive years in 2023 and 2024, alongside its first-place win in the women's category of Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2023 and the Comic Division Grand Prize at the 55th Japan Cartoonists Association Awards.

Before the screening, Endo told the crowd, "Today is a valuable opportunity to see episodes 3 and 4, which have not yet been released. I think it's a wonderful animation that you can't take your eyes off from the very beginning, so please enjoy it thoroughly until the end."
