Disney+ announced Night Tales Club on Wednesday, a six-episode supernatural mystery anthology that premieres in January 2027 and stars Takayuki Yamada as Hojo, a wealthy entrepreneur who treats ghosts, monsters and curses as bugs in a larger conspiracy. Hojo founds the club of the title and pays people 20 million yen, roughly $130,000, in gold to bring him accounts of the inexplicable. Each episode dramatizes a different account. Ichi Sawamura adapted the scripts from his own short horror collection, and six directors handle the episodes: Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Takashi Shimizu, Shinzo Katayama, Yukiko Sode, Yuichiro Sakashita and Yosuke Nakamura. Kenji Nakajima directs the framing sequences with Yamada. Yusuke Wakabayashi and Teruhisa Yamamoto produce. First-look images and a teaser trailer went out with the announcement. Sawamura said he felt surprise and joy that the stories would reach audiences worldwide.

Netflix will premiere its eight-episode live-action series Quiztopia on December 17, adapting Reiichi Sugimoto and Shinichi Kato's National Quiz manga. A teaser trailer and additional cast were revealed: Masahiro Takashima as Commander Murakoshi, Eiko Koike as producer Shoko Kamijo, Riko Ishida as Marii, Kana Kurashina as Ayako, Koji Seto as Seiji Nanbara, and Renji Ishibashi as Prime Minister Takeshi Gokumazawa. Takayuki Yamada plays host KK. Teruyuki Yoshida directs and co-writes with Maggy.

Netflix will stream the live-action series Kokumin Quiz worldwide starting December 17, with all 8 episodes released at once. Takayuki Yamada plays K.K., the host of the in-story quiz program that has become Japan's supreme authority in a parallel-world setting. The show adapts the manga written by Reiichi Sugimoto and illustrated by Shinkichi Kato, published in 1993, which the production describes as having been called impossible to adapt. Teruyuki Yoshida directs from a screenplay he wrote with Maggie. A total of 16 new cast members were announced alongside the date. Riko Ishida plays Mari, a girl of unknown identity who aims for K.K.'s life, and Kana Kurashina plays Ayako, her mother. Koji Seto plays Seiji Nanbara, an activist plotting the collapse of Kokumin Quiz. Masahiro Takashima plays Murakoshi, captain of the punishment squad, Eiko Koike plays producer Shoko Kamijo, and Renji Ishibashi plays Prime Minister Takeshi Gokumazawa. A teaser trailer was also released.

Yuki Yamada will lead the Prime Original film Super Mob Ninja, streaming worldwide on Prime Video on February 19, 2027. Yugo Sakamoto of the Baby Assassins series directs and writes, with Kensuke Sonomura on action direction. Yamada plays Higashino Akira, a fired convenience store worker who joins a government secret organization battling demons.
