Rail Shooter 'Wild Blue Skies' From Former Star Fox Programmer Gets August Release Date
Balor Games announced on June 2 that the rail shooter 'Wild Blue Skies', developed by Chuhai Labs, will launch on August 13 (August 14 in Japan). The game is a modern take on 1990s rail shooters, with anime-style graphics and a story about the Blue Bombers, led by dog pilot Bowie Stray, fighting the Grimclaw faction to save the world. Chuhai Labs is led by Giles Goddard, the programmer for the original 'Star Fox' and 'Super Mario 64'. The game will be available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with full Japanese voice support. A trailer released alongside the announcement shows aircraft maneuvers like rolling and in-flight communication with allies, elements that recall Star Fox. The developer described the project as a 'modern reconstruction of 90s rail shooters'. The PC version supports Japanese, but it is unclear whether the console versions will be sold in Japan.
