Metal Warriors, a Super Famicom mecha game developed by LucasArts and published by Konami, shipped in America in 1995 and was never released in Japan. It borrowed heavily from Cybernator, also known as Assault Suits Valken, including its six selectable mecha and side-scrolling stages, but let players leave the cockpit, fly as the pilot, fight human-sized enemies, and board a different mech. Some staff later worked on Titanfall.
Nintendo announced during the September 9 Nintendo Direct that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is getting a Definitive Edition for Nintendo Switch 2. The version launches February 25 with improved visuals and frame rate, includes all Expansion Pass content, and offers a discount and save data transfer for owners of the original Switch release.
Koei Tecmo opened pre-orders on September 1 for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Dynasty Warriors 2 with Xtreme Legends Remastered, a remaster that combines the original Dynasty Warriors 2, the series' first million-seller, with its Xtreme Legends expansion. The game launches October 1, 2026 at 7,480 yen. It runs on Unreal Engine 5, with more than 40 officers from the original rendered in updated detail, and Shiran, the protagonist of Dynasty Warriors ORIGINS, joins the roster. New actions include a dodge that can trigger a just-dodge counter and a just power guard that deflects enemy attacks and stuns the target. Musou mode gains new scenarios, and the game keeps free mode, challenge mode, and an offline two-player split-screen option for Musou, free, and VS modes. VS mode offers eight stages from the original, including a 3v3 battle at Hulao Gate and a 1v1 contest to defeat 20 enemy soldiers first. A new weapon synthesis system lets players consume unwanted weapons to transfer attributes and skills. Players can switch new elements on or off with normal or classic settings.
BANDAI SPIRITS is releasing Suiren no Musashi from the TV anime Yoroi Shin Den Samurai Trooper as an articulated plastic model in the 30 MINUTES FANTASY (30MF) format. The kit releases August 29, 2026, priced at 5,500 yen, and includes Yoroi Gia armor parts, weapons, and expression options.
D3 Publisher announced its exhibition plans for Tokyo Game Show 2026, running September 17-21 at Makuhari Messe. The company's booth, Hall5 05-C03, will feature trial stations for three Earth Defense Force titles, including the PlayStation 5 game 'Earth Defense Force 6.2 INVADERS FROM ANOTHER WORLD.' Visitors can also try 'Earth Defense Force 5 for Nintendo Switch 2,' releasing October 8, and 'Earth Defense Force 6 for Nintendo Switch 2,' due this winter. The booth stage will host events introducing new titles, with live streams on YouTube and Niconico Douga. Details on event content and schedules will be posted on D3 Publisher's and Earth Defense Force's official X accounts, plus a dedicated TGS2026 special site. The announcement trailer is available on YouTube. The company also opened a special site for the event. The trial corner highlights the series' signature feature of battling overwhelming enemy numbers, with partial weapon customization available in the PS5 title.
Screaming Mad George, the special effects artist and director of the 1991 live-action The Guyver film, died on February 10 at age 69. His manager announced the news on Monday. He was known for effects work on Predator, Big Trouble in Little China, and the Nightmare on Elm Street sequels, and collaborated often with director Brian Yuzna.
TRAILMARK Games and Coolabi Group announced Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest, a turn-based RPG based on the Warriors novel series. Players create a cat warrior, hunt, train, and defend territory while rising in rank. The game features four clan story campaigns, customization, base building, and turn-based combat. It launches in fall 2026 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch.
Koei Tecmo Games announced a Summer Sale on July 28, offering titles on PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Nintendo eShop at up to 85% off. Discounts apply to Nioh 3, Dynasty Warriors: Origins, its Dreamlike Four Heroes DLC, Fate/Samurai Remnant, and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Sale periods vary by store, ending between July 30 and August 12.
Koei Tecmo Games announced during Sony's State of Play broadcast on June 3 that Dynasty Warriors 2 with Xtreme Legends Remastered will launch on October 1. The remaster bundles the 2001 PlayStation 2 title Dynasty Warriors 2 and its expansion disc Dynasty Warriors 2: Xtreme Legends into a single package. The release was originally scheduled for March 19 but was delayed in January for quality improvements. The remaster features upgraded graphics, modernized controls, and new gameplay mechanics including horse calling, evasion, and just evasion. It also adds Shiran, the protagonist of Dynasty Warriors: Origins, as a playable character with new weapons, actions, and a dedicated scenario. The game will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. The original Nintendo Switch version has been canceled. Pre-orders for the PS5 version opened on June 3.
