Tomoaki Maeno is cast in two forthcoming television anime, The Remarried Empress and A Pen, Handcuffs, and a Common-Law Marriage, and returns for season 2 of With Vengeance, Sincerely, Your Broken Saintess. He also appeared with the other three QUARTET NIGHT voice actors in live-event costumes in September 2026, for reasons the cast has not confirmed.
Tomoaki Maeno's confirmed work over the past year is spread across three anime productions. In June 2026, he was named among the returning cast for season 2 of With Vengeance, Sincerely, Your Broken Saintess, which premieres October 1 on TV Kanagawa under director Saya Fukase. Two months later, he was cast as Eiji Kirisame, a forty-year-old detective, in the January 2027 television anime of A Pen, Handcuffs, and a Common-Law Marriage, directed by Takaaki Ishiyama at EMT Squared. In October, Crunchyroll announced at New York Comic Con that he plays Sovieshu in TROYCA's television anime of The Remarried Empress, set for broadcast next year.
The three projects differ in scale and source. A Pen, Handcuffs, and a Common-Law Marriage adapts a manga by Shinichi Sawaragi and Tank Gasuyama that began in Hakusensha's Young Animal in December 2022 and has 400,000 copies in circulation, with Yen Press publishing the English edition. With Vengeance, Sincerely, Your Broken Saintess continues a webtoon adaptation that changed directors between seasons. The Remarried Empress arrives as part of a wider screen rollout for the webtoon, which has 2.97 billion global views and a live-action series headed to Disney+ and Hulu.
Outside those castings, Maeno appeared on September 4 in a photo with Shouta Aoi, Shoutarou Morikubo, and Tatsuya Suzuki, the four voice actors behind QUARTET NIGHT, wearing costumes from the June 2026 live event QUARTET NIGHT LIVE ENDLESS JEWELS. The reason for the gathering is unconfirmed, and the cast has not said what it was for. That is where coverage of him stands: two announced roles with dates, one returning role with a date, and one unexplained appearance.
