NEW OLD PIXELS announced a licensing agreement with Microids covering The Legend of JuJu, the 1989 TAD arcade game known overseas as Toki. The plan is to port the original version to game consoles and computers it was not ported to at the time, rather than produce another remake. Specific platforms are undecided, though the company says it is evaluating multiple classic platforms built on Motorola 68000 and Zilog Z80 processors.

CCMC began selling the High-Difficulty Added MAP & AZKi Joins Pack for Star Sora Iro Fantasy ~Magic Reaching the Sky~ on Steam on September 25, 2026. The DLC costs 550 yen including tax and adds maps that open after the main story is cleared, along with new enemy characters and gimmicks. hololive VTuber AZKi joins as a support character, and she can be added to the party before the main game is finished. The main game, a side-scrolling action title in the Metroidvania style that mixes 2D and 3D, stars Tokino Sora and has been on Steam since May 30, 2025, priced at 1,100 yen including tax. Developer Altoseal and Hoshikuzunoyoru built it, and it ships under CCMC's holo Indie brand, which publishes derivative games made with fans and creators. The DLC and the base game both support Japanese and English. Playing the DLC requires the base game.

holo Indie, the hololive production derivative game brand, has released a free demo of HoloCozy on Steam. The desktop-resident room customization game, developed by Ninth Games and announced by CCMC Corp., lets players spend time with Tokino Sora in two rooms, Sora's Room and Green Garden Room. The demo includes a calendar, alarm, Pomodoro timer, three hololive songs, three ambient sounds, and the Blackjack minigame. The full version, scheduled for release within 2026, will feature five talents: Tokino Sora, Usada Pekora, Shiranui Flare, Shirogane Noel, and Houshou Marine, shown in pixel art. A release date of November 13 appears in an earlier schedule, but the current product information lists the launch as within 2026 with price undecided. The demo supports Japanese, English, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Korean, and Indonesian.

Kadokawa and Marvel Comics have launched a joint project called MARVEL | KADOKAWA, announced at the MARVEL FANFARE panel at San Diego Comic-Con on July 25, 2026. The first wave will consist of five titles, with two confirmed so far. Spider-Man is drawn by tokitokoro, who previously worked on Jeff the Land Shark for Marvel Comics. Its protagonist is Haruto Hachidori, a male high school student living in Shibuya who suddenly gains spider powers and swings through the city while a shadow lurking beneath it begins to move. Spider-Gwen is handled by Ryusei Yamada, who drew Captain Marvel illustrations for MARVEL SWIMSUIT SPECIAL. Its story follows Gwen Stacy, a high school student and drummer in the band Mary Janes, who gains powers after a radioactive spider bite in a laboratory and protects the city as Spider-Woman. Both Japanese titles remain undecided. Both works will begin serialization on Kadokawa's KadoComi service within 2026, with collected volumes planned afterward.

Toho announced on Sunday that the second cours of the Though I Am an Inept Villainess anime will premiere in January 2027 under the title The First Royal Outing arc. Three cast members join the new arc: Yuichi Nakamura as Kou Keikou, Reirin's eldest brother; Shunichi Toki as Kou Keishou, her second-eldest brother; and Chiaki Kobayashi as Unran, described as the young leader of a village in the southern territories. A key visual and character visuals were released alongside the news. The arc moves the story to early autumn for the Harvest Festival, held in the southern lands ruled by the Shu clan. With no consort as guardian, Keigetsu continues preparations under pressure, while Reirin supports her and looks forward to her first royal outing. An unforeseen accident interrupts the ritual, Keigetsu's spell runs out of control, and the two swap bodies again. After the swap, Reirin is abducted. The staff returns from the first cours, which premiered on July 12.

The talk centered on KONAMI's Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 4th Heart and the character Kazama Reita, with Kosaka playing his own save data and showing his Reita goods collection.

Koei Tecmo Games is showing Harukanaru Toki no Naka de: Ryugu no Miko, its iOS and Android romance adventure, at Tokyo Game Show 2026. Ninjala 2: The Unknown Planet arrives in spring 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2 as a buy-to-play title with packaged and download versions. Director Motoki Kaneda told interviewers the sequel abandons the 2020 original's free-to-play PvP battle royale format for a PvE open-world action game set on an unknown planet. Development began around 2023 to 2024, according to Kaneda, once the team wound down full-scale support for the first game. He cited two reasons for the change: a desire to expand the Ninjala IP beyond competitive play, and user survey responses asking to explore the world at their own pace and fight alongside friends. The story will ship in two parts, with players buying the first and then the second if satisfied. Exploration, crafting, character growth, and four-player co-op are included.

The nationwide 100-yen shop chain Seria will release Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side goods in mid-September at 110 yen each with tax included. The lineup has five types: acrylic mejirushi charms shaped like cheering uchiwa fans, masking roll stickers, cleaner cloths showing characters in glasses, photo-style message stickers, and clear postcards made for taking a photo with your crush. The Enhanced ZZ Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ is now a METAL ROBOT Spirits (Ka signature) figure, supervised by mechanical designer Hajime Katoki. Tsukucchau Ojisan opened the Steam store page for Taboo Village: Romance Card Game on September 2. The roguelite has the protagonist playing a life-or-death card game with kemono-eared girl Tama-chan in dreams; losing means never waking. The game is based on Gin Rummy with route selection and card upgrades. Release is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. It is a significantly polished version of the free browser game Taboo Village: Strip Card Game, which drew 10,000 plays within three days of its April release.

Koichi Tokita's sequel spin-off manga Mobile New Century Gundam X FLASH starts serialization in the October 2026 issue of Monthly Gundam Ace, out August 26. Newly drawn cover illustrations for Mobile New Century Gundam X Record Compilation A.W. 30th Chronicle were revealed: a DREAMS cover by character designer Nobuyoshi Nishimura and a Resolution cover by mechanical designer Kunio Okawara. The compilation releases January 2027.

The Overgeared anime will premiere on Tokyo MX and BS11 on October 2 at 11:30 p.m. JST. The second promotional video previews the opening theme "SATISFY" by Re:name and the ending theme "Ray of Emotion" by virtual singer TAO. Red Bull Japan announced all four matchups for the invitational show match Red Bull Revenge, held September 21 at Tokyo Game Show 2026. The cards reenact famous Street Fighter competitive matches in Street Fighter 6: Big Bird vs Bonchan, Tokido vs MenaRD, Blaz vs Sahara, and LeShar vs Kawano. Each match is first-to-5, with free first-come seating and streams on YouTube and Twitch.

At the Tokyo premiere for 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' on July 30, Mrs. GREEN APPLE appeared as special guests. Vocalist Motoki Omori said they put 120% of their feelings into the song.

The fantasy romance follows hero Mikage, who is cursed with petrification after defeating the dark lord, and his wife Crane, a saint curious about curses.

Viz Media shared preview pages for Lynx, the comic by American writer Samuel Sattin and Japanese artist tokitokoro. The first volume publishes August 11. The story follows Lynx Takuma, a bio-enhanced detective in New Borealis, one of the last habitable cities after a worldwide climate disaster, who works with partner Task and a talking cat named Skua. While tracking a series of grisly murders, she sees something that looks like an angel.

Marvel Comics is partnering with Kadokawa for a series of original manga volumes, starting with tokitokoro's "Spider-Man of Shibuya" and a Spider-Gwen series by Ryūsei Yamada. Serialization begins before the end of 2026. The collaboration follows the end of Marvel's contracts with Shueisha and Sho-Pro Books, and comes as Marvel Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski moves to oversee Asia Originals.

Isao Tsuge, the character design supervisor for the Netflix series "Gas Man," has explained the three concepts embedded in the blue-gray coat worn by the titular character. In an interview with Cinema Today, Tsuge said the coat's color first represents the gas-like nature of the character, second conveys a sense of otherness, and third shows respect for the 1960 original film, which also featured blue and gray tones. Tsuge, who has worked on films including "Departures" and "Shin Godzilla," designed the Gas Man after receiving the role two months before filming began. He praised actor UTA, who plays the Gas Man, for delivering emotionless lines with precise timing while also showing natural warmth in scenes with a young girl. Tsuge noted he has known UTA since childhood through his father, actor Masahiro Motoki, with whom Tsuge worked on "Departures" and "Gemini." The series, a reboot of Toho's 1960 special effects film "The Gas Man First Number," is directed by Shinzo Katayama and stars Shun Oguri and Yu Aoi alongside UTA. All eight episodes are now streaming on Netflix.

Mrs. GREEN APPLE will provide the Japanese theme song for the film 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day,' which opens in Japan and the US on July 31. The band's new track, 'Brand New,' was written and composed by vocalist and guitarist Motoki Ohmori. It will play over the end credits of the Japanese dubbed version. The collaboration was announced via a video message from Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. The band members visited Sony Pictures Studios in Los Angeles in February to meet with Feige, producer Amy Pascal, and music supervisor Dave Jordan. They also held online meetings with director Destin Daniel Cretton. Feige said the band is his favorite and that he felt their love for Spider-Man during discussions in LA and Tokyo. Ohmori said he wanted to convey the love and significance of the Japanese theme song as a fan of the MCU. The song's chorus includes the phrase 'I love you no saki e' (beyond I love you), inspired by the hand sign Spider-Man makes when shooting webs, which is also a global sign for 'I love you.' The film is set four years after 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' and follows a lonely Peter Parker facing a new threat.

The live-action Blue Lock film announced five new cast members on Friday. Shihō Harumi plays Hirotoshi Buratsuta, Sōma Santoki plays Tomonari Tada, Yūsuke Hirayama plays Isshin Tomobe, Tōru Nomaguchi plays Issei Isagi, and Maho Nonami plays Iyo Isagi. The film opens August 7. Yusuke Taki directs, Tetsuo Kamata writes the screenplay, CREDEUS produces, and TOHO distributes.

The suspected operator of Newtoki, one of South Korea's largest illegal webtoon distribution sites, was extradited from Japan to South Korea on Thursday. The 37-year-old former Korean national, who acquired Japanese citizenship in 2022, is accused of running a large-scale piracy network. The extradition is the first time Japan has extradited one of its own nationals to South Korea under their bilateral treaty.

CyberAgent and Cygames Pictures' Apocalypse Hotel original TV anime won Best Media, and its spinoff manga Apocalypse Hotel Pusupusu won Best Comic. Mecha designer Ikuto Yamashita won Best Artist. Other winners included Rokudo Ningen's Labeled Human for Best Japanese Long Story and Iori Miyazawa's "Tokitoki Channel: How to Make Nonexistent Weather" for Best Japanese Short Story.

The source material is a light novel series by storywriter Almond with illustrations by Yoshiro Ambe. Earth Star Entertainment published the four-volume series in print between June 2021 and June 2023. J-Novel Club released the complete novel series in English. A manga adaptation by Yona Etou launched on the Comic Earth Star website in April 2022 and is still ongoing.
