Luke Dicken, former AI head at Take-Two Interactive, told Kotaku that AI-driven decompiling and porting of games without the rights holder's permission is an issue developers and publishers must take seriously. He expects more invasive DRM and platform-level countermeasures, which he says will disadvantage consumers. Godot Engine's Emilio Coppola argued platforms such as Steam should share the burden of policing AI clones rather than leaving it to developers.

Game Spark's weekly ranking for October 9 to October 15, 2026 covers its five most-read stories. Bandai Namco Entertainment began streaming the gameplay reveal trailer for Roger Jr., a Season 3 character in Tekken 8, on Sunday. Early access opens November 11, with the full release on November 16. The trailer also previews the in-game model for Yujiro Hanma, who debuts in early 2027, and confirms a Yujiro Hanma trailer for January 17 at the Tekken World Tour Finals in Singapore.

Bandai Namco released a new Tekken 8 gameplay trailer at EVO France 2026 on October 11 for the additional character Roger Jr., the kangaroo parent and child. A first look at the 3D model of guest character Yujiro Hanma, who joins this winter as the fourth additional character of Season 3, closed the trailer, though his battle system and specific moves were not shown.

SNK announced at EVO France 2026 in Nice on October 10, 2026 that Reina from Tekken 8 will join Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves as a downloadable character. She is scheduled for release in December 2026. The teaser trailer shows Reina facing off against Nightmare Geese and launching a strike, with lightning-like attack effects carried over from her appearance in Tekken 8. Reina closes out Season 3 as its final additional character. SNK has not detailed her move set, and the circumstances behind the crossover will come later. Before Reina, the Season 3 slate brings Manjiro Sano (Mikey) and Ken Ryuguji (Draken) from Tokyo Revengers on October 22, followed by Laocorn Gaudeamus from the anime film Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture in November. Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is available now on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Xbox Series X|S.

SNK announced a collaboration between Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves and Bandai Namco's Tekken 8 on October 8, 2026, releasing a teaser video on YouTube. A silhouette appearing about 20 seconds in, behind Rock Howard, has drawn speculation that it may be Reina from Tekken 8. No details beyond the phrase "Fate crosses" were revealed. Character trailers for Tokyo Revengers collaboration fighters Manjiro Sano and Ken Ryuguji were published the same day.

Kohei Ikeda, the game director known for Tekken 7 and Tekken 8, announced on August 18 that he has joined VS Studio SNK. Ikeda, also known by the nickname Nakatsu, left Bandai Namco Studios in June after 20 years at the company. He began his career at Enterbrain before moving to Bandai Namco, where he worked on numerous titles, especially the Tekken series, serving as game director and development producer for Tekken 8. VS Studio SNK is a development studio established in May with support from SNK. Its CEO is Katsuhiro Harada, who worked on the Tekken series with Ikeda and left Bandai Namco Studios in 2025. Yuichi Yonemori, another Tekken series veteran, is also part of the studio as CCO. In an X post, Ikeda said working on game development again with his two former bosses feels nostalgic and full of excitement from creating something new, and that he is very fulfilled. The game currently in development at VS Studio SNK has not been announced yet.

They argued that pushing the front knee forward to add power can make poses look cramped. The lecture proposed a three-layer animation design concept of realism, acting, and theatrical flair.

Bandai Namco Entertainment revealed at EVO 2026 a gameplay trailer for Bob, the next Season 3 character for Tekken 8. Bob enters early access on August 19 with a full release on August 24. Other Season 3 characters include Kunimitsu, Roger Jr., and Yujiro Hanma from the Baki series.

Bandai Namco Entertainment America streamed a teaser trailer for Tekken! Cartoon, an animated project featuring superdeformed versions of the game series' characters. The trailer includes live-action footage of cast member Tsubasa Tobinaga. Sohta Ozawa (NERD) directs, Amehiro handles character design and animation, and an unnamed person in a blue shirt is responsible for music and sound design. More information will be revealed later.

Hamster announced on June 24 that it will release Arcade Archives 2: Tekken on June 25, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game is a port of the original 1994 arcade Tekken, developed by Namco (now Bandai Namco Entertainment). It retains the four-button control scheme mapping left and right limbs, and the Arcade Archives 2 line supports VRR to reproduce behavior closer to the original arcade hardware. The price is 1,800 yen, and it supports one to two players. On the release date at 19:00 JST, Hamster will stream a Tekken special episode of its official program Arcade Archiver on YouTube, featuring development talks with the original team and game introductions. The original Tekken was a landmark 3D fighting game that launched during the early 3D era, competing with titles like Virtua Fighter and Street Fighter II.

Kohei Ikeda, game director for Tekken 7 and Tekken 8, announced on Monday that he has left Bandai Namco Entertainment after 20 years at the company. His departure follows that of former Tekken project producer Katsuhiro Harada, who left at the end of 2025 and now leads SNK's new studio.
