Metroidvania Survival Horror 'Silver Pines' Launches October 8
Publisher Team17 and developer Wych Elm announced on June 2 that the Metroidvania-style survival horror game 'Silver Pines' will launch on October 8. The game is set in the decaying small American town of Silver Pines, where players control private detective Red Walker as he searches for missing musician Eddie Velvet. Exploration follows a Metroidvania structure: new keys and items unlock previously inaccessible areas. Inventory capacity is limited, forcing players to manage ammunition and healing items carefully. Monsters include giant ceiling-hanging creatures and humanoid aberrations; players fight them with pistols and melee weapons, and reloading a revolver involves a quick-time event. The art uses hand-drawn rotoscope animation and a neo-noir style. The full version will be available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. A demo released on June 1 on Steam has drawn 94% positive user reviews out of 75 ratings, with players praising its classic survival horror feel reminiscent of 'Silent Hill' and 'Resident Evil'. Wych Elm is a five-person studio based in Sweden whose members previously worked on 'Helldivers 2', 'The Darkness', and 'Yoku's Island Express'.
