Satoru Noda's Golden Kamuy is being adapted through live-action films and series, with the Karafuto Pursuit Arc series set to stream on WOWOW from January 24. The second film, Abashiri Prison Assault Arc, streams on Netflix from September 13.
Satoru Noda's Golden Kamuy is moving through live-action adaptation in arcs. The second film, Golden Kamuy: Abashiri Prison Assault Arc, adapts the manga's biggest battle arc at Abashiri Prison and began streaming on Netflix on September 13. The film brings back Kento Yamazaki as Sugimoto Saichi and Anna Yamada as Asirpa.
The adaptation then turns to the Karafuto Pursuit Arc as a new live-action series on WOWOW. It starts streaming January 24 at 10:00 p.m. Kenji Katagiri returns to direct with new director Masaaki Yoshimura, and Tetsuo Kamata writes the script. The production keeps its technical team: Yutaka Yamada and Yoshiaki Dewa return as composers, Hiroshi Nakagawa and Debo Akibe return as Ainu language and cultural advisers, and CREDEUS produces again.
Across the two stories, the live-action line follows the manga in sequence, from the Abashiri Prison battle to the Karafuto Pursuit material. The core staff stays in place as the story moves to a snowbound pursuit arc.
