SanDisk is the exclusive storage partner for Meta VR Glasses, the VR device Meta plans to release in spring 2027. Its Nintendo-licensed microSD Express line for Switch 2, previously limited to a 256GB card, added a 512GB model on October 1 at 28,980 yen.
Two deals define where SanDisk sits now. The older one is with Nintendo: SanDisk holds the officially licensed microSD Express line for the Switch 2, and on October 1 it added a 512GB card at 28,980 yen. Until that release the 256GB model was the only capacity in the licensed line. The two cards are told apart by their printing, Mario's "M" on the 256GB and a Fire Flower on the 512GB. Sales had already started at Amazon, Rakuten and Yahoo Shopping. The 28,980 yen price appears to be affected by recent rises in memory and SSD semiconductor prices, and a non-licensed 1TB microSD Express card verified for Switch 2 from Princeton is on sale at Amazon.co.jp for 39,800 yen, down from a 55,400 yen reference price.
On October 19, SanDisk said it is the exclusive storage partner for Meta VR Glasses, the VR device Meta plans to release in spring 2027. Under the deal SanDisk will offer certified microSD Express cards and USB-C flash drives through Meta's "Made for Meta" accessory program. The glasses carry 128GB of internal storage and support microSD expansion up to 1TB. What the expansion will cost is unsettled: SanDisk says capacity lineups, prices, release dates and Japan availability for the Meta products are not yet disclosed.

SanDisk will release a 512GB version of its Nintendo-licensed microSD Express Card for the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 1, priced at 28,980 yen. The card joins a 256GB model that has been the only capacity in SanDisk's officially licensed microSD Express line until now. The 256GB card carries Mario's "M" mark, while the 512GB version has a Fire Flower printed on it. Sales have already started at Amazon, Rakuten, and Yahoo Shopping. The article notes that the 28,980 yen price appears to be affected by recent rises in memory and SSD semiconductor prices. The announcement comes as a separate Princeton 1TB microSD Express Card, verified for Switch 2, is on sale at Amazon.co.jp for 39,800 yen, down from a 55,400 yen reference price, though that card is not a Nintendo-licensed product.
