Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- Season 4 is split into two arcs: the 11-episode Loss Arc, which aired from April 8 to June, and the eight-episode Recapture Arc, which began August 12. The Recapture Arc follows Subaru Natsuki and his companions as they cross the Auguria Dunes toward the Pleiades Watchtower, where the wise man Shaula is said to hold knowledge that could restore what was lost after the battle at the Watergate City of Priestella. That battle cost Rem her endless sleep, Crusch her memories, and Julius his name. The arc is animated by WHITE FOX, with Masahiro Shinohara directing and original author Tappei Nagatsuki supervising scripts.

The Loss Arc dealt with Subaru's memory loss and his struggle to regain conviction. Episode 11 completed a character arc where Subaru shed self-loathing and doubt, with Emilia helping him see his growth. Episode 12 saw an amnesiac Subaru choose compassion over paranoia, and episode 13 pitted him against Rui's memory-eating. The Recapture Arc opened with Subaru openly confessing his memory loss and heading toward the tower's spiral staircase, the site of his two previous falling deaths. Recent episodes have escalated the mystery: episode 14 revealed that Subaru is unknowingly a Sin Archbishop two times over, that his new powers likely come from Regulus' Authority of Greed, and that Shaula is the giant scorpion.

The season has been a commercial and critical success. It topped ABEMA's weekly anime ranking for three consecutive weeks and won five of the first eight Anime Corner weekly polls, with a 20.08% vote share in Week 8. The franchise celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2026, with the light novel series surpassing 16 million copies in worldwide circulation. A 10th anniversary event, 'Starlight Party,' is scheduled for November 14 at Tachikawa Stage Garden, featuring 12 cast members and musical guests Konomi Suzuki and MYTH & ROID. The opening theme 'Recollect' is by Konomi Suzuki featuring Ashnikko, and the ending theme 'Ender Ember' is by MYTH & ROID featuring TK from Ling Tosite Sigure.

Re:Zero Season 4 Episode 5 Reveals the Library's Nature and Typhon's Past

Episode 5 of Re:Zero Season 4 splits its focus between the tower's library-a repository of everyone's memories, searchable only by knowing the person-and a flashback to Typhon's childhood, where her Authority of Pride killed anyone who felt guilt, making her a tragic mass murderer unaware of her own wrongdoing.

Re:ZERO Season 4 Episode 6 Pits Julius and Emilia Against Reid

Episode 6 of Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Season 4 focuses on combat and character development as the party faces Reid, the original Sword Saint. The episode features two rounds of Reid versus Julius and one round of Reid versus Emilia, with the animation serving as eye candy for the action quota. The central dilemma is that every member of the party must defeat Reid to proceed to the next floor of the tower, including Subaru, Anastasia, Meili, Ram, Rem, and Julius. However, Reid is willing to adjust the rules, suggesting that overcoming him requires intellect rather than sheer strength. The battles also advance character arcs: Emilia's sheltered nature causes her to not register Reid's sexual harassment, surprising him and allowing her a clean hit. Julius's fight explores his lifelong status as second best compared to Reinhard, and his pride in being chosen by Anastasia-a memory now only he retains. The episode draws parallels to Subaru and Julius's fight from the first season, with Julius emulating Subaru's earlier absurd proclamation and willingness to accept consequences. A staircase scene metaphorically depicts Subaru supporting Julius rather than carrying him, acknowledging Julius's need to walk his own path with help, similar to how Rem once helped Subaru.

Re:Zero Season 4 Reopens the Question of Whether Subaru Is Flugel

Animehunch examines the long-running theory that Natsuki Subaru is the Sage Flugel, citing evidence from the current season of Re:Zero. Subaru had the same urge to carve his name on it.
