Koei Tecmo opened pre-orders on September 1 for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Dynasty Warriors 2 with Xtreme Legends Remastered, a remaster that combines the original Dynasty Warriors 2, the series' first million-seller, with its Xtreme Legends expansion. The game launches October 1, 2026 at 7,480 yen. It runs on Unreal Engine 5, with more than 40 officers from the original rendered in updated detail, and Shiran, the protagonist of Dynasty Warriors ORIGINS, joins the roster. New actions include a dodge that can trigger a just-dodge counter and a just power guard that deflects enemy attacks and stuns the target. Musou mode gains new scenarios, and the game keeps free mode, challenge mode, and an offline two-player split-screen option for Musou, free, and VS modes. VS mode offers eight stages from the original, including a 3v3 battle at Hulao Gate and a 1v1 contest to defeat 20 enemy soldiers first. A new weapon synthesis system lets players consume unwanted weapons to transfer attributes and skills. Players can switch new elements on or off with normal or classic settings.
At gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, broadcast August 26 Japan time, Airship Syndicate showed a gameplay trailer for DUST: Origins. The top-down action horror shooter comes from the creators of the Darksiders series. Footage shows heavy weapons like shotguns and gatlings used against criminals and monsters. The game is in development for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, said to be in final stages, with a Kickstarter campaign underway.
Saber Interactive announced on August 26 that Turok: Origins, the first full new installment in the Turok series in about 19 years, will launch in spring 2027. Free-to-air broadcaster BS12 Twelvi announced on July 23 that it will rebroadcast the 2013 original anime special Pokémon: The Origin. The four-episode series originally aired on TV Tokyo to commemorate the release of Pokémon X and Y for the Nintendo 3DS. The 30th annual Fantasia International Film Festival will host the world premiere of the Cherry and Virgin film, the North American premiere of the Sekiro: No Defeat anime, and international premieres of the live-action WIND BREAKER film and The Origin of Ultraman documentary. Koei Tecmo Games announced during Sony's State of Play broadcast on June 3 that Dynasty Warriors 2 with Xtreme Legends Remastered will launch on October 1. The remaster bundles the 2001 PlayStation 2 title Dynasty Warriors 2 and its expansion disc Dynasty Warriors 2: Xtreme Legends into a single package. The release was originally scheduled for March 19 but was delayed in January for quality improvements. The remaster features upgraded graphics, modernized controls, and new gameplay mechanics including horse calling, evasion, and just evasion. It also adds Shiran, the protagonist of Dynasty Warriors: Origins, as a playable character with new weapons, actions, and a dedicated scenario. The game will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. The original Nintendo Switch version has been canceled. Pre-orders for the PS5 version opened on June 3.

The six-episode Takopi's Original Sin anime, which premiered in June 2025, is being re-edited into a theatrical compilation film. The project was announced on May 23, 2026, via the anime's official website. The film is titled Takopi's Original Sin -Thank You, See You Tomorrow- and will include newly added scenes alongside the compiled episodes. No release date has been set. The television series was directed by Shinya Iino (Dr. Stone) at studio ENISHIYA, with character designs by Keita Nagahara and music by Yoshiaki Fujisawa. The voice cast includes Kurumi Mamiya as Takopi, Reina Ueda as Shizuka Kuze, Konomi Kohara as Marina, and Anna Nagase as Azuma. The series streamed on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Crunchyroll, and other platforms. The original manga by Taizan 5 ran in Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ from December 2021 to March 2022, spanning two compiled volumes. VIZ Media holds the English license. The anime received seven nominations at the 10th Crunchyroll Anime Awards in 2026, including Anime of the Year.
