Bandai Namco Shows Ondeh Ondeh Kaya's Tasty Tale Rhythm Action Ahead of 2027

Bandai Namco Entertainment held a hands-on preview event for "Ondeh Ondeh Kaya's Tasty Tale," a rhythm and puzzle action adventure planned for release in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam. Malaysian studio Metronomik, known for "No Straight Roads," is developing the game. Players control Kaya, a girl in the world of Selera who aims to become a World Builder like her parents, Baba and Mama. The game's core system is the "Octet," a constant 8-beat rhythm at roughly BPM 60 that drives combat, gimmicks, and even everyday actions such as brewing coffee. Kaya wields a magic spoon and collects Ondeh, which grant abilities such as the Salty Ondeh's beat-timed object lift. The Japanese version features Akio Otsuka as Baba, Kikuko Inoue as Mama, and Aoi Yuki as Kaya. Chapter 1, set in Salti Village, includes sheep gathering and a boss fight against Mother Wolf.

Bandai Namco Entertainment Asia announced Ondeh Ondeh: Kaya's Umami Great Adventure during the Nintendo Direct streamed on September 9, 2026. The game is a rhythm action title developed by Malaysian studio Metronomik, and it is scheduled for release in 2027 on Nintendo Switch 2.
