The TV anime adaptation of Reno Lemaire's French manga "Dreamland" has added three new cast members ahead of its October 17 premiere. Takuya Eguchi will voice Savana, a foul-mouthed, quick-tempered charismatic fighter; Hiroyuki Yoshino plays Saba, an easygoing art college student; and Masahiko Tanaka voices Yung, a mysterious old man who knows Dreamland's secrets. The series follows Terrence, a boy who lost his mother in a fire and, after overcoming his fear of fire within a nightmare, awakens as a Dreamer who travels the dream world. The original manga is a cult favorite in France with over 800,000 copies in print. The anime will air in the ANiMAZiNG!!! slot on ABC TV and TV Asahi affiliates across 24 stations nationwide. Production is handled by Ellipse and La Chouette Compagnie, with directors Juan Pablo Machado and Joe Celse at the helm. The Japanese localization features sound direction by Soichiro Kubo and production by Tohokushinsha and Amuse Creative Studio.
Nestopi announced on September 9, 2026, the next entry in its work-focused adventure series, 'Chill with You: SHIOI's Sparkling Scenes,' and opened the Steam store page. The game follows the previous title 'Chill with You: Lo-Fi Story,' which has sold 450,000 copies, but tells a completely independent story. The new heroine, Shioi, is a bright, fashionable gyaru who is popular in class but tends to slack off when alone, often suggesting skipping study for cafe hopping. Advance scene cuts for episode 12 of TV anime Mushoku Tensei III have been released. Titled The End and the Beginning, the episode reveals the identity of a mysterious old man who tells Rudeus he came from the future and speaks of tragic events about to befall him. Belarus-based developer Frogstorm announced Hemlotrion: Broken Mirror on September 8. The action-adventure game casts players as a student at a secret magic school, learning spells and exploring to uncover mysteries. Frogstorm says it carries on the legacy of early 2000s Harry Potter-style games, drawing reactions of nostalgia and concern over similarities.

Konami Digital Entertainment will give away original mineral water named Gensui at its Gensou Suikoden booth during Tokyo Game Show 2026, which runs from September 17 to 21 at Makuhari Messe. The water shares its name with the series' common abbreviation and is presented as the renowned water of Taiju Village, the home of the protagonist in the upcoming title Gensou Suikoden STAR LEAP, referred to as Gensui SP. Attendees can receive Gensui by following the official Gensou Suikoden and Gensui SP X accounts and reposting the pinned post. Social media reactions quoted by the sources include 'Laughed at Gensui' and 'I want to try it.' The booth will also hand out an instruction manual for Gensui SP containing story information, world maps, and rune details, plus clear stickers featuring chibi characters from the Gensou Suikoden anime, distributed randomly in eight types under the same conditions. Hamster will release Console Archives Nobunaga's Ambition: Sengoku Gunyuuden on September 10 for Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5. The download costs 800 yen and supports one to four players. The game is a re-release of the 1990 Koei 8-bit simulation war game, the third entry in the Nobunaga's Ambition series. The player takes the role of a feudal lord and works to unify all 38 provinces, including Kanto and Chubu, by commanding warlords through war and diplomacy. The re-release builds on the previous game, Nobunaga's Ambition: National Edition, and adds a two-scenario multi-scenario system, field battles and siege battles on HEX maps, and roughly 400 real warlords. Hamster announced the release on September 9. The title is the second Nobunaga's Ambition game in the Console Archives line, following National Edition, which arrived on March 5. The Console Archives series reproduces classic console games on current hardware with features such as button and screen customization and save and load anywhere.
Medicos Entertainment marked September 9, Attack on Titan Day, by revealing the prototype for the Chozo Kado BIG Attack on Titan (Eren Yeager) figure. The company also confirmed that the Armored Titan and Female Titan will be made into figures in the same line. The Eren Yeager figure is still in development, with the prototype shown as a work in progress.
The National Institute for Environmental Studies will exhibit at Tokyo Game Show 2026 for the first time, running September 17-21 at Makuhari Messe. The institute will unveil Project: Leaves, a project that turns its accumulated research and simulation technology into games. The planned game has players conduct investigations and conversations within limited time, complete inventions, and send them to society, with choices branching into different futures. KRAFTON JAPAN announced a collaboration between PUBG MOBILE and Nijisanji VTuber Kuzuha, running from September 9 to November 6. Items include costume skins, weapon skins, voice cards, and a hoverboard, all designed by Kuzuha. Some items are gacha-exclusive, while others come from login and play events.

Shochiku Games announced September 9 that REKA, the witch exploration adventure from Berlin-based Emberstorm Entertainment, will leave early access and release version 1.0 on Steam October 26. The game costs 2,300 yen. Early access began September 12, 2024. The full release was originally planned for August 18 but was pushed back because playtests and third-party feedback surfaced bugs and performance issues that a small indie team needed time to fix. At 1.0, the game will add Japanese language support. A free demo arrives September 29, and a hands-on preview runs at the Shochiku booth during Tokyo Game Show 2026 at Makuhari Messe, September 17-21. Players control Reka, apprentice of the legendary witch Baba Yaga, and travel a procedurally generated 19th century Europe-inspired autumn world with a walking magic house on giant bird legs. The game has character creation, housing and decoration, animal taming, and quests where choices shape the player's identity as a witch. Shochiku Games publishes in Asia; Fireshine Games handles global publishing.

Renta! announced Wednesday that Redoing My Youth In Another World -The God Of Death Is My Fanboy- is receiving an AniComi motion comic adaptation, airing January 2027 on Tokyo MX. Tomohito Takatsuka voices Makoto Fuwa and Ryuichi Kijima voices the God of Death Thanatos. Keita Ando directs at Do-Raku with Digital Shokunin. The production uses traditional motion comic methods plus generative AI in some shots, with manual touch-ups and rights permissions secured.
OM Digital Solutions announced the OM SYSTEM PEN, the first camera in the PEN series to carry the OM SYSTEM brand name. The mirrorless Micro Four Thirds camera is scheduled for release in late October 2026 and is the first PEN model with dust and drip resistance, rated IPX1 when paired with a compatible lens. It keeps the rangefinder-style design of earlier PEN cameras and adds an electronic viewfinder. The camera pairs the TruePic IX image processing engine with a roughly 20.37 million pixel Live MOS sensor and a 5-axis in-body stabilization system rated up to 5.5 stops at the center. It includes Color and Monochrome Profile Control presets that mimic film looks, plus Computational Photography functions such as handheld high-res shots, live ND, focus stacking, HDR, and multiple exposure. Aniplex released the first character promotional video for Fate/EXTRA Record, its remake of the 2010 PlayStation Portable game Fate/EXTRA, on September 9. The video spotlights Saber, voiced by Sakura Tange, one of three Servant candidates the protagonist can contract with in the dungeon exploration RPG. The sources describe Saber as a swordswoman whose exceptional skill defies her small stature, with combat ability worthy of the Saber name, considered the most outstanding class. Her speech and mannerisms are arrogant, but she harbors a love for beautiful things. Fate/EXTRA Record is scheduled to launch on January 28, 2027, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. The standard edition is priced at 8,910 yen. The game follows a troubled development history: Bandai Namco Entertainment withdrew from publishing by mutual agreement, and director Kazuya Nino left the project citing health concerns. Arco Wada returns as character designer, with Kinoko Nasu handling original work and scenario supervision. Development is now handled by Meteorise.

ProjectBLUE's VTuber music event Shinkai Fes 2026 "Super Shinkai" revealed its third batch of performers on September 8. Thirteen acts join the lineup, including Gamon Yuuku, MonsterZ MATE, Retora, Kihane Suu, and HONK THE HORN. The event runs October 17-18 at Shibuya Stream Hall across three stages. VTuber unit Ome Sisters, the twin duo of Omega Ray and Omega Rio, will collaborate with Manha and Nizuku, the official VTubers of the Guam Visitor's Bureau. The company acts as representative organization, with Hilti supporting tool technology and major construction firms backing demonstration. UK Digital Secretary Lisa Nandy announced a policy to require Apple and Google to block explicit images on smartphones used by children. Talks since June failed to produce an agreement within a three-month deadline, so the government will introduce a framework bill on September 8 mandating device-level child protection features. Dengeki Bunko announced that Shiden Kanzaki's Black Bullet light novel series will get a reboot titled Black Bullet: New World Order, releasing two volumes a month from November 2026 to February 2027. The first volumes reprint the original story with additions and edits, but from January 2027 the story diverges, and the February volumes end differently. Kanzaki also has a new original work, Aku no Shinzui, planned for spring 2027.
Elecom will release two 2.5Gbps LAN adapters, the EDC-QUA3CV2-B and EDC-QUA3CV2E-B, in mid-September. The adapters add a wired LAN connection to laptops that lack a LAN port. Both models work with USB-A and USB Type-C through an included Type-C conversion adapter, and neither requires a driver install. The EDC-QUA3CV2-B sells for 3,980 yen; the EDC-QUA3CV2E-B for 3,581 yen. Elecom positions the adapters for tasks that need stable throughput, including large game downloads, cloud transfers, web meetings, and online classes. The adapters support a theoretical maximum of 2.5Gbps, which Elecom says is about 2.5 times faster than a 1Gbps connection. The aluminum housing is meant to improve heat dissipation and noise resistance, and the roughly 0.15m cable keeps the unit easy to manage on a desk. Elecom says the wired link avoids the radio interference and dropouts that can affect Wi-Fi.
Takara Tomy has opened Amazon reservations for Tomica Dream Tomica Sushi Tomica Sono Ichi, a set of six sushi-topping cars: ootoro, maguro, tamago, ika, anago, and ebi. Each car comes with a differently patterned sushi plate. The rice body hides a driver's seat, lights, a license plate, and a rice-grain emblem. Price is 909 yen each, release October 24, 2026.
Meta announced Muse, a personal AI agent that sends emails, books travel, and makes purchases on the user's behalf. It runs on the Muse Spark model and operates in a dedicated virtual machine per user, with a separate Sentinel agent that checks actions and requests permission before any transaction. Muse is now available in the US on iOS, Android, web, and WhatsApp. Japan release timing is undecided.
Nekkyou developed and launched ≒JOY LINK, the official per-member fan club app for idol group ≒JOY, on August 10, 2026. It is the third group in the LINK series after =LOVE and ≠ME. The app runs on iOS, Android, and web. Nekkyou took over the LINK business from Cosmo in July 2026, making this the first new group under its own operation.
Reservations for the Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Nintendo Switch 2 opened at Nojima Online and Yodobashi.com on September 9. The console, priced at 62,980 yen, is scheduled to ship October 29 and carries Zelda design work on the Joy-Con 2 controllers and the dock, including Triforce motifs. Nojima Online is taking orders with a limit of one per household. ZerocreationGame announced Daxiwang: Qisha Lunhui, a roguelite action RPG from Skull Cat Studio starring Zhang Xianzhong, the late-Ming peasant rebellion leader. Cast into the underworld after death, Zhang aims to escape hell and resurrect in the living world. The top-down game has him hunted by the ghosts of those he killed, with roguelite progression and evil-god sacrifices. A Steam description adds a meta hook: enough players and Zhang returns.
Geoff Keighley, the host and producer of The Game Awards and Summer Game Fest, and Mark Cerny, the lead architect of the PS4 and PS5, have co-founded Nova Games Foundation, a nonprofit that funds young game creators. The foundation runs a fellowship program for university graduates who want to move directly into original game development after finishing school. It partners with 13 universities worldwide and targets games with artistic, literary, or social value. Each year Nova selects 20 fellows and gives each $100,000, with up to $500,000 in additional support for especially promising projects. Fellows receive mentoring and promotion from industry leaders. Developers keep ownership of their work, choose their own publisher and platform, and Nova takes no equity and requires no repayment. The foundation is independent of Keighley's events and of PlayStation. Per Game File, both men donated several million dollars at the founding and plan to keep funding it. Keighley said he has avoided commercial investment in games because of his industry position and seeks no financial return. Cerny, aware of his late career, said he wants to give back to the next generation. Applications open in December 2026, with details due mid-September.
Renta!'s original BL vertical comic 'Seishun no Yarinaoshi wa Isekai de' will air on TOKYO MX from January 2027 as an Anicomi, Papyless's motion comic format that adds motion and audio to manga. Tomohito Takatsuka plays Fuwa Makoto and Ryuichi Kijima plays Thanatos. The adaptation adds generative AI to some cuts. A key visual and teaser PV were released with the announcement.
maimai de luxe launches its new version MAGiCAL on September 17 with a collaboration with the anime Hiroshi Nohara's Lunch Style, running through November 19. The anime's opening song Gohan Tabe Yo by Mega Shinnosuke joins the POPS & Anime category, and a new chihou opens where players earn four characters as tsuaa members: Hiroshi Nohara, Kawaguchi, Haruka Yosugi, and Akitake Takagiri. Two name plates and four frames are also included.

It adds AI control through external assistants including ChatGPT and Claude via the Model Context Protocol, a portable surround feature that turns two Sonos Play speakers into automatic home theater surrounds, and a redesigned app with three tabs. Takara Tomy Mall is taking pre-orders for two LEGACYSOUL Super B-Daman products that revive the Master Kouryaku-Oh Special: a Black Ver. in a first-release test machine color and a W Case Set. Both are balance-type machines built for the five B-Daman events. Pre-orders run until November 8, 2026, with release scheduled for late March 2027. The Black Ver. is 3,300 yen and the W Case Set is 6,050 yen, tax included.
