Phantom PHANTOM OF INFERNO, Gen Urobuchi's Debut Work, Launches on Steam

Nitro Origin, the brand behind Nitroplus, announced on August 7 that the Steam version of Phantom PHANTOM OF INFERNO will launch on September 4. The visual novel, priced at 3,500 yen including tax, supports Japanese, English, and Simplified Chinese text, with Japanese-only voice. The game is based on the 2000 adult PC release, which was Nitroplus's first title and the debut work of scenario writer Gen Urobuchi, later known for Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Fate/Zero. The story follows Reiji Azuma, a boy on a solo trip to America who witnesses an incident and learns the true identity of Phantom, the organization's strongest assassin, is a girl his age. After being abducted and having his memories erased, he is trained in assassination techniques and becomes one of the organization's top killers, eventually drawn into internal conspiracies. The Steam version is based on the 2013 PC port that added TV anime elements, and the official website states there are no changes to the game content. The store page opened on August 7, confirming the release date, following a January 1 announcement of the port.
