NightRunner Co-Op Train Survival Game Announced for 2027
German indie developer 314 Arts announced NightRunner on August 18, a first-person PvE extraction shooter for PC via Steam with a 2027 release window. The game supports solo or up to four-player online co-op in a world where sunlight has become lethal and civilization has collapsed. Players take on dangerous jobs as NightRunners, boarding an armored train that acts as a mobile base, scavenging resources at exploration stops, and defending the vehicle from mutant hordes while trying to reach the extraction point. Dying or losing the train means losing all collected loot. The game includes four modes: Train Jobs, the main extraction loop; Transition Jobs, which uses heavily armed ships to break through mutant-infested sea zones; Dungeons, linear areas with unique bosses and high-tier loot; and Endless, a wave-based high-score mode. Four Runner Kits offer different combat styles, exploration abilities, and support roles such as Engineer and Stalker, with permanent upgrades via a Runner-Tech system. The developer cites Escape from Tarkov, Killing Floor, and Call of Duty: Black Ops II's Tranzit mode as influences. A playtest is scheduled for September 2026, with applications open on the Steam store page.
