Kadath Co., Ltd. announced on September 10 the dark fantasy JRPG Under Mythos, planned for release in 2028 on PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch. The voice comic adaptation of the BL manga End Roll wa Jigoku made will begin distribution on August 25, 2026, on the new Tunco Voice Theater channel. Fumiya Imai joins previously announced Yusuke Shirai as the double lead, with Takara Inoue and Shinsuke Tachibana also appearing.

Bloomberg reports that Studio Ghibli has no next feature in development more than two and a half years after The Boy and the Heron. New president and CEO Kenichi Yoda says the studio will not force a film without the right idea. Hayao Miyazaki, 85, still comes to work daily, though no one knows what he is working on.

Nijimen reports that the Horimiya 15th anniversary project includes two events: a cafe themed after Katagiri High School's cultural festival and a pop-up shop with a strawberry motif. Daisuke Hagiwara drew separate main visuals for each. The cafe runs in Tokyo from October 14 to December 27, 2026, and in Osaka from November 25, 2026 to February 7, 2027. The shop starts in December 2026 across four cities.

KADOKAWA announced a 1/7 scale figure of Haruhi Suzumiya wearing Megumin's outfit from Konosuba - God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!, based on an illustration by Noizi Itō for the Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko Winter Fair 2026. The figure is supervised by Itō and Kurone Mishima, with sculpting by GOLDENHEAD PLUS and paintwork by Kenji Andō. A KADOKAWA Store-exclusive Special Set includes a rubber mat.

The two Silent Möbius theatrical anime films, released in 1991 and 1992, will get their first domestic Blu-ray box set on December 25, 2026. The Anniversary Premium Box includes both films, a framed reproduction of new art by creator Kia Asamiya, a three-sided box, and a booklet, priced at 22,000 yen.

Hakusensha released a collaboration PV for the 50th anniversary of its shoujo manga magazine LaLa. The video features Tamaki Suoh from Ouran High School Host Club voiced by Mamoru Miyano and Takumi Usui from Maid-sama! voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto. The two characters engage in a lavish exchange while introducing anniversary initiatives. A special advertisement using the video is on display at Animate Ikebukuro Main Store in Tokyo.

KADOKAWA's official store Kadost opened preorders for summer 2026 KDcolle figures and Kadopla plastic models, including a Haruhi Suzumiya figure in Megumin's outfit, two Louise figures for Zero no Tsukaima's 20th anniversary, and an Arbalest model from Full Metal Panic!. Orders close between September and October 2026, with releases scheduled for 2027.

ABEMA will open a dedicated Haruhi Suzumiya channel from August 16 to 19, streaming all 28 episodes of the 2009 broadcast version and the film The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya for free. On August 17, the date the Endless Eight loop begins in the story, all eight episodes of that arc will stream for 12 consecutive hours.

GKIDS and Fathom Entertainment will screen Hayao Miyazaki's Castle in the Sky in U.S. theaters for five days in August, marking the film's 40th anniversary. The 1986 fantasy adventure follows Pazu and Sheeta as they search for the floating castle Laputa. Screenings include both Japanese and English-language versions, plus a post-film clip from the featurette 'The World of Laputa.' Tickets are on sale now.
