Marvel's current slate spans games, films, and print. On the game side, Insomniac's Marvel's Wolverine is the centerpiece, launching September 15, 2026 on PS5. Sony has pushed a full marketing cycle: a story trailer in July revealed Jean Grey as a major character, Team X, and a Japan setting, while a September feature video detailed combat, New Game+ at launch, and a Shinjuku stage. The ESRB rated the game M for dismemberment and nudity. Limited edition PS5 hardware and a DualSense controller ship the same day. Insomniac's community marketing director publicly criticized X's algorithm as pre-release backlash mounted.
MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls, developed by Arc System Works and published by Sony, launched August 7, 2026 on PS5 and PC. It is a 4v4 tag fighter with a 20-character roster. Critics praised the core design, with the PS5 version scoring 86 on Metacritic, but the PC version faced performance issues and a mandatory PSN account requirement, leading to a Steam rating of 'mostly negative' and a PS5-only weekly tournament. Two emergency patches in August addressed CPU load and frame drops. The game also appeared in a Windows update crash advisory from Microsoft.
In film, Marvel Studios confirmed a 2028 MCU slate: Ghost Rider starring Ryan Gosling, directed by Shawn Levy, on July 28, 2028; an X-Men film on May 5, 2028 with Adam Driver and a full cast; and Black Panther 3 on December 15. Chris Evans described how Marvel pitched him multiple returns before he agreed to Avengers: Doomsday. Elsewhere, Marvel Comics partnered with Kadokawa for manga starting in 2026, launched a Marvel Heroes credit card in Japan, and released a BABYMETAL variant cover for Marvel Zombies: War Zone. EA's Marvel's Iron Man account broke a long silence after leaked footage, but platforms and a release date remain unannounced.

Marvel's Wolverine is set for release on September 15 for PlayStation 5, published by Sony Interactive Entertainment and developed by Insomniac Games. A Game Watch review build describes an original story in which Logan, who has lost his memories, is found by Nathaniel Essex and joins Team X, a mutant unit whose surviving members include Sabretooth and Mystique. In Game Spark's account, Team X's work is dirty, and Logan leaves it behind before the game's opening helicopter ride, where he sets out to rescue the captured Essex. The combat draws on a Rage gauge that drains over time, so backing off costs the ability to revive; filling it to a third stage triggers an automatic stronger mode. Both reviews describe a darker, more violent style than the Marvel's Spider-Man series, with dismemberment and blood effects that can be turned off.

Marvelous announced a new RPG, ETERNAL ANIMA, during the Nintendo Direct streamed on September 9, 2026. The game is set for release on March 4, 2027, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, with the Steam version following on March 5. Set in a world where civilization and wisdom have been lost, the protagonist uses a Mind-Reading Art to evoke the memories of heroes and inherit their powers, and must sense enemy hostility to anticipate actions in battle. Other sources describe the setting as one where hoping for a better future is a felony, with the protagonist pursued as a heretic traveling between the past and present of four lost continents. The game is described as a completely new JRPG centered on the theme of inheritance across eras. Marvelous has opened the official website for the title.

During the September 3 State of Play broadcast, Sony Interactive Entertainment showed a new trailer for Marvel's Wolverine, the PS5 action-adventure from Insomniac Games. Trask leads the Sentinels, and the trailer includes combat scenes against them alongside cutscenes featuring multiple characters. The game is scheduled for release on September 15, 2026. The trailer highlights the narrative conflict between Wolverine and Trask, who believes humans are supreme beings. It also shows Wolverine rejoining Team X to face the crisis, a key plot point in the game's story. The footage was streamed as part of the latest State of Play presentation, which focused on upcoming PlayStation titles. No additional details about gameplay mechanics or specific character roles were provided in the trailer itself, but the visual presentation suggests a focus on action sequences and character interactions. The release date of September 15 was confirmed alongside the trailer reveal.

Sony Interactive Entertainment released a video titled "Only On PS5 | PS5 Games" on the official PlayStation YouTube channel on August 24, 2026. The video presents a lineup of titles as PS5 exclusives, including the already released Astro Bot, SAROS, Gran Turismo 7, and Ghost of Yōtei, alongside upcoming releases such as Marvel's Wolverine and God of War Laufey. The video displays the phrase "PLAYSTATION 5 EXCLUSIVE" for each game. This follows a March 2026 Bloomberg report citing internal sources that SIE had stopped planning PC versions for major PS5 single-player games, with Ghost of Yōtei and SAROS remaining console exclusive while online games like Marathon and MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls continue as multiplatform releases. SIE has not issued an official statement confirming a policy shift, but the video arrives after several signals pointing in that direction. Game*Spark previously reported that PC development mentions have disappeared from PlayStation Studios studio descriptions and that Sony's annual report removed references to "PC and other multiplatform" from its gaming segment. The video's comment section is largely filled with anger from overseas gamers over the discontinuation of physical disc versions.

Second Dinner announced Draft Mode for MARVEL SNAP, a new limited-time game mode where players build a 12-card deck on the fly by choosing from presented cards. The mode opens with a choice of one starter set from three options, each a three-card bundle that defines the deck's archetype. Players then pick one of three cards seven times to reach a 10-card starting deck, with additional picks after matches expanding it to 12 cards. Draft Mode introduces Augments, permanent special effects attached to cards, with 21 types confirmed in the preview build. The mode allows duplicate cards in a deck, enabling combos impossible in standard play, such as running two copies of Hulk and Wave together. Matches run until five wins or two losses, with entry costing one Draft Ticket. Rewards include Bitz, exchangeable for card packs and variants, and XP tied to a seasonal track. The mode runs from August 25 at 5:00 AM to September 8 at 3:59 AM Japan time, and omits the snap system, making retreats count as losses. The developers spent over 1.5 years developing Draft Mode.

Arc System Works producer Takeshi Yamaguchi and director and lead battle designer Kazutoshi Sekine gave interviews about MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls, the Marvel fighting game published by Sony Interactive Entertainment and released in August 2026 on PS5 and PC. The game uses a 4v4 tag battle system, and Sekine said the format was chosen to express the Marvel team-up world and to deepen team tactics through many character combinations. The game supports both traditional command inputs and simple one-button controls such as Quick Skills and Link Attacks, so players can start with a single character. The team confirmed Phoenix Cyclops as the first Year 1 DLC character, currently in development. The interview also covered Deadpool's parody easter eggs, which Sekine said are not all discovered yet, and PC performance. Yamaguchi said two emergency patches were released on August 10 and August 21 to reduce CPU load and frame drops, and the team considers the CPU load now comparable to or lighter than other Arc System Works fighting games.

Mrs. GREEN APPLE will provide the Japanese theme song for the film 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day,' which opens in Japan and the US on July 31. The band's new track, 'Brand New,' was written and composed by vocalist and guitarist Motoki Ohmori. It will play over the end credits of the Japanese dubbed version. The collaboration was announced via a video message from Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. The band members visited Sony Pictures Studios in Los Angeles in February to meet with Feige, producer Amy Pascal, and music supervisor Dave Jordan. They also held online meetings with director Destin Daniel Cretton. Feige said the band is his favorite and that he felt their love for Spider-Man during discussions in LA and Tokyo. Ohmori said he wanted to convey the love and significance of the Japanese theme song as a fan of the MCU. The song's chorus includes the phrase 'I love you no saki e' (beyond I love you), inspired by the hand sign Spider-Man makes when shooting webs, which is also a global sign for 'I love you.' The film is set four years after 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' and follows a lonely Peter Parker facing a new threat.
