Magical Girl Raising Project Restart premieres in October with series writer Takao Yoshioka returning to adapt Asari Endo's novels and Masako Ito joining as lead character designer. Ito, who handled the first season's super-deformed designs, worked to keep Maruino's detailed character art intact. Yoshioka contrasts new protagonist Pechka with Snow White, who was driven by a conviction Pechka lacks.

Director Hiroyuki Hashimoto confirmed that Magical Girl Raising Project Restart, a sequel to the 2016 anime, is in production. In an interview, Hashimoto said the series' dark premise, where magical girls are culled, required viewers to have mental preparation before a sequel could work. The long gap came down to the business side of anime, with the project finally greenlit after a change in the primary animation production company and EPX Corp expressing interest.

The Magical Girl Raising Project Restart anime will debut on October 5. It airs on TV Tokyo late at night at 2:00 a.m. (effectively October 6), then on AT-X and BS Fuji on October 7. Director Hiroyuki Hashimoto and scriptwriter Takao Yoshioka return from the first anime, with Synergy SP replacing Lerche as the animation studio.
