Sunsoft announced Hard Edge - War Zone, a real-time tactical card battle, releasing July 23 on Steam. It revives the 1998 PlayStation game Hard Edge with a complete genre shift to multiplayer card combat. The game supports up to eight players online in Capture the Flag and Team Deathmatch modes. A demo is available now.

Hamster Corporation announced on July 1 that it will release "Console Archives Hard Edge" as part of its Console Archives series, which brings classic console games to modern platforms. The game launches July 2 on Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 for 1,200 yen. Originally released by Sunsoft in 1998 for the original PlayStation, Hard Edge is a 3D action game where players control a special forces member storming the Togusa Building, which is occupied by an armed group, to rescue captured researchers. The Console Archives version includes features such as customizable button layouts, screen settings, and save-anywhere functionality. A new title in the same world, "Hard Edge - War Zone," was announced in April 2026, with a demo currently available on Steam.

At BitSummit PUNCH, SUNSOFT showed playable demos of ROUTE16R, a remake of the 1981 arcade classic Route 16, and Hard Edge - War Zone, a real-time tactical card battle version of the 1998 PlayStation action-adventure. ROUTE16R adds transforming robot battles and part swapping, and launches on Steam and Switch on August 6, 2026. Hard Edge - War Zone is due on PC in 2026.
