Gurren Lagann is in circulation on two fronts: MediaOCD began selling select Aniplex of America Blu-rays, with the Gurren Lagann television series and films among the first titles listed, and Good Smile Company opened a second re-release of its MODEROID Gurren Lagann kit for December 2026 shipping.
MediaOCD announced a sales agreement with Aniplex of America to carry select anime on Blu-ray Disc through the MediaOCD online store, and the Gurren Lagann television series and films are among the first titles listed. The Gurren Lagann Complete Blu-ray Disc Box holds the 27-episode series, both films (Gurren Lagann the Movie -Childhood's End- and Gurren Lagann the Movie -The Lights in the Sky Are Stars-), and two versions of episode 6. A separate 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray collects both films remastered in 4K for the films' 15th anniversary, with staff audio commentary, a leaflet, and the English dub. Justin Sevakis, founder of MediaOCD, said the agreement keeps the titles available to fans and that more titles are planned.
On the merchandise side, Good Smile Company opened reservations on August 6, 2026, for a second re-release of the MODEROID Gurren Lagann plastic model kit from the TV anime Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. The non-scale assembly kit stands approximately 140mm tall and uses five colored runners, letting builders recreate the in-show appearance through assembly alone. It includes the Guren Boomerang, a drill, and interchangeable hand parts, and swapping the head parts reproduces the Lagann form. Reservations run through September 16, 2026, with shipping scheduled for December 2026 at 4,500 yen including tax. Orders at the official Good Smile Company shop during the reservation period are guaranteed delivery, with a purchase limit of three units per person. The kit can be displayed alongside the separately sold Nendoroid Simon figure.
A separate piece on how turning anime into work erodes the ability to watch for enjoyment uses Gurren Lagann as one of the touchstone series that gets compared and re-mined rather than watched fresh. It does not bear on the releases, but it is why the title keeps surfacing in the coverage.

A writer for Japan Powered reflects on how turning anime into a subject for analysis has eroded the ability to watch it purely for enjoyment. The habit of comparing every narrative to touchstone series and hunting for article ideas means even bad shows get watched, and relaxation only comes from re-watching stories already mined for content.
