Edge of Eternity Developer Midgar Studio Closes Amid Nacon Financial Woes
Midgar Studio, the French developer behind the JRPG Edge of Eternity, is closing due to legal liquidation proceedings. CEO Jérémy Zeler-Maury announced the closure on LinkedIn on July 20, stating that despite searching for a new acquirer, the studio could not resolve its situation within the deadline. The studio was acquired by Nacon in 2022, which has faced financial difficulties following its parent company Bigben Interactive's bond repayment delays and judicial restructuring filings. The fate of the upcoming title Edge of Memories, a successor to Edge of Eternity scheduled for Q4 2026, remains uncertain.
