Core Keeper

Core Keeper's post-launch plan was once a single major update called The Road to the Great Maw. It was too large, so Pugstorm split it into three: 1.3 Riders of the Underground, 1.4 Trials of the Abyss, and 1.5 Beyond the Rift. The first two deepen existing systems. The third is the final chapter. Pugstorm says 1.3 is done and in final testing, and it arrived on September 21, 2026 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch 2, and Switch.

The 1.3 content itself is broad. It adds the Saddle, an item that turns any livestock animal into a mount, and players can rename mounts and set them to stay, wander, or follow. A Moss sub-biome spreads green growth through stone ruins, home to a reptilian livestock species called Oreks. A Hookshot crosses rifts and gaps. Three pets arrive with distinct abilities, including Pyokohop and Azeos Jr., and the update adds weapons, accessories, and armor plus adjustments to mage and summoner playstyles. Version 1.4 is named Trials of the Abyss and 1.5 Beyond the Rift, both announced for later.

Promotion ran alongside the content. Fireshine Games ran its own Tokyo Game Show 2026 booth for the first time, showing Core Keeper, Densha Attack, and Far Far West. Head of Marketing Tina Moore tied Core Keeper's Japanese results to local partners, influencers, and community managers, naming Neon Noroshi. A Steam Free Weekend from October 9 at 2 a.m. Japan time to October 13 at 2 a.m. Japan time opens the full game, including all content added since release, at no cost, with save data carrying over to the full Steam version if purchased.
