GKIDS issued a statement Thursday apologizing for incorrectly timed English subtitles during screenings of The Last Blossom last Sunday, which led to cancellations on Monday. The company pulled affected shows from sale, issued refunds, and delivered a corrected version Monday, though some theaters could not update in time. GKIDS is reviewing options including makeup screenings. It also confirmed cocoon will open September 4 as planned.

Coco Uzuki's Fall in Love, You False Angels manga is going on hiatus due to the creator's health and to adjust her workload. The series will return in the January 2027-cover-dated issue of Kodansha's Dessert magazine in November. The announcement came in the October issue of Dessert.

Good Smile Company and Front Wing released the PC novel game COCORO on August 27. The game is available as a download only, priced at 3,800 yen, with a 20 percent off launch sale on Steam through September 8. A demo version is also on Steam. COCORO is set in Tsukumishi, a former utopia destroyed by a global AI rampage. The story follows Hinata Mimine, a boy who lost his hometown, and Cocoro, a humanoid girl who wishes to become human and dreams of marriage. Hinata returns to the ruined city during summer vacation and reunites with Cocoro at a botanical garden, where she tends flowers and awaits a fiance she does not realize is him. The game features full voice acting except for the protagonist. Hina Yumiya voices Cocoro, with a cast including Hikaru Tohno, Yasuaki Takumi, Riona Imaizumi, Maaya Uchida, and Shuta Morishima. Planning and scenario are by Asta Konno of ATRI -My Dear Moments-, character design by Akio Watanabe of the Grisaia series, and music by Fuminori Matsumoto. The game supports Japanese, English, and Chinese.

MAPPA announced during its 15th anniversary lineup reveal livestream on June 19 that it is producing a television anime adaptation of Coco Uzuki's shojo manga Fall in Love, You False Angels, set for a 2027 release. Yasutomo Okamoto directs the series, with Mariko Oka handling character design, Yōhei Yamazaki as series script supervisor, and Yuriko Waki as animation producer. The manga, which debuted in Kodansha's Dessert magazine in April 2023, won the 49th Kodansha Manga Award in the shojo category in 2025 and was nominated for the Shogakukan Manga Awards that same year. Kodansha USA publishes the English version. Good Smile Company and Frontwing announced on June 19 that their new visual novel COCORO will launch on August 27, 2026. The game is set in a world where robots run rampant and follows a boy's first love with a girl named Kokoro, who hides the fact that she is a robot. The heroine Kokoro is voiced by Hina Yomiya, who also performs the game's ending theme. Yomiya is known for roles including Anna Yamada in The Dangers in My Heart and Tomori Takamatsu in BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!!. Planning and scenario are by Asta Konno, who worked on the studio's previous novel game ATRI -My Dear Moments-. Character design is by Akio Watanabe, known for the Monogatari series anime. COCORO will be sold on Steam and other digital download platforms, supporting Japanese, English, and Chinese. To mark the sixth anniversary of ATRI -My Dear Moments-, which has surpassed 500,000 downloads worldwide, a giveaway campaign is running through July 3 on the official COCORO X account. Three winners will receive a collaborative acrylic stand featuring both games.

Gkids has acquired all North American rights to the wartime anime film Cocoon - One Summer of Girlhood, based on Machiko Kyo's manga, and will begin screening it in theaters on September 4. The film will be available in Japanese with English subtitles and with an English dub. It will have its North American premiere at the JAPAN CUTS event in July before the wider theatrical rollout. The 63-minute feature, directed by Yukimitsu Ina in his directorial debut, follows two schoolgirls, San and Mayu, on a tropical southern island during World War II. As war escalates, the students are ordered to nurse the wounded in a military hospital hidden in a cave, and they lose friends one by one. The anime originally debuted on BS-NHK in March 2025 and later aired on NHK General that August. The music was composed by Kensuke Ushio, and Hitomi Tateno, a former Studio Ghibli animator, served as animation producer. The studio Sasayuri produced the anime. Gkids said it will announce home entertainment plans and details about the English-language cast later this year.

Coco Uzuki's romance manga Fall in Love, You False Angels is getting a television anime adaptation scheduled for 2027. The announcement was made on Friday via a new official X/Twitter account, accompanied by a commemorative illustration from Uzuki. The manga's seventh compiled volume, which shipped the same day in Japan, also carried the anime news on its wraparound jacket cover. The series debuted in Kodansha's Dessert magazine in April 2023 and won the 49th Kodansha Manga Award in the shojo category in 2025. It was also nominated for the Shogakukan Manga Awards that year and has ranked in the top 20 of Takarajimasha's Kono Manga ga Sugoi! guidebook for female readers multiple times. Kodansha USA Publishing has licensed the manga in English. No staff, cast, studio, or broadcast details have been announced yet.
