The Casshern manga series Casshern R is listed by retailers as ending with its third collected volume. Meanwhile, the 2004 live-action film was made available for free on YouTube for a limited two-week window.
Two recent developments touch the Casshern property across different media. In manga, Satoshi Shiki's Casshern R is listed by retailers as ending with its third collected volume, scheduled to ship on December 18. The series launched in Monthly Champion RED in September 2023 and moved to Manga Cross in April 2025. It adapts Tatsunoko Production's Shinzo Ningen Casshan anime and centers on Tetsuya Azuma, who transforms into Casshern to fight Andro and his army, with Chabo Higurashi writing the script.
In live action, Shochiku offered the 2004 film CASSHERN for free on its official YouTube channel from July 3 to July 16. The film adapts Tatsunoko Pro's anime Neo-Human Casshern, directed by Kiriya Kazuaki, with a cast including Yusuke Iseya and Kumiko Aso. The limited free release gave a new audience access to a live-action adaptation of a classic Tatsunoko property that has been difficult to stream or purchase in recent years.
Together, the stories show a property active in both manga and live-action circulation. The manga adaptation appears to be concluding with its third volume, while the older film gets a temporary return to public view through a free streaming window. Coverage does not indicate new animation or further live-action projects.
