BOOTH is now tied to a formal corporate alliance between its operator pixiv and VRChat, announced in September 2026, after several years of informal work surfacing VRChat-related products on the marketplace. Coverage of the platform itself is otherwise thin.
BOOTH's role in Yomimono coverage is as a marketplace that sits between pixiv's creation and distribution tools and the places where the resulting work is used. VRChat Inc. and pixiv announced in September 2026 a capital and business alliance that includes an investment, with the two companies saying they will deepen cooperation on the creator ecosystem around 3D avatar culture. That alliance formalizes a working relationship of about three or four years, which included a 2022 VRChat and BOOTH partnership to surface VRChat-related products on the marketplace.
The two sides describe a split of duties. pixiv handles creation tools and distribution, while VRChat provides the place where avatars are used. VRChat also ran a booth at Tokyo Game Show 2026, its first TGS exhibit, where the pixiv collaboration appeared. Japan is VRChat's second-largest market, and the company says the country has a higher share of creators among users than other regions.
The companies are preparing jointly released VRChat worlds and say they are open to game companies bringing IP proposals. For BOOTH, the throughline is that the marketplace's existing VRChat-facing work now sits inside a formal corporate structure rather than an informal collaboration.
