Axisray Lab showed BASH at Tokyo Game Show 2026, a wired USB gamepad with no analog stick. A soft mechanism called GumiTap sits where the stick would be, pressed in or pushed up, down, left, and right. Optical sensors inside read markers on the back of the pad and capture directional input, pressing, and rotation. It is planned for release within 2026 at around 300 to 350 dollars.
The Horror Collector anime will debut on NHK on October 10 with a 12-episode run. Hiiro Ishibashi plays Fushigi Senno, Jun Fukuyama plays Jimmy, Saori Hayami plays Himitsu, and Nobuhiko Okamoto plays Blue Umbrella Man. Yuki Inaba directs at Studio Palette and handles series composition, with Kaori Yoshikawa on character design. Shikao Suga performs the opening theme, "Kageboshi."
The staff for Keroro Gunsō, the new Sgt. Frog television anime, streamed a second main trailer on Monday and announced five cast additions: Yuki Sakakihara as Fuyuki Hinata, Minori Fujidera as Natsumi Hinata, Sumire Morohoshi as Momoka Nishizawa, Hiiro Ishibashi as Mutsumi Hojo, and Koko Fukushima as Koyuki Azumaya. The trailer previews the opening theme by ano and the ending theme by PURPLE BUBBLE. The anime premieres October 3 on TV Tokyo.
Netflix will begin streaming the live-action film Golden Kamuy: Abashiri Prison Raid on September 13, 2026, with no extra charge for subscribers. The film opened in Japanese theaters on March 13, 2026, distributed by Toho. A survey of 14 streaming services found no other platform offering it for subscription streaming or rental, and no free option.
Futabasha released an ASMR video for "Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid: Elma's OL Diary" on September 10, read by Yuki Takada, who voices Elma. The video marks the spin-off's 100th chapter and depicts Elma encouraging a listener. Volume 12 of the series, drawn by Ayami Kazama from a story by coolkyousinnjya, also went on sale that day.
The second live-action film in the Golden Kamuy adaptation, 'Golden Kamuy: Abashiri Prison Assault Arc,' will stream on Netflix from September 13. Kento Yamazaki returns as Sugimoto Saichi, with Anna Yamada as Asirpa. The film adapts the manga's biggest battle arc, set at Abashiri Prison.
TBS's documentary program Jounetsu Tairiku will feature horror writer Suneji, who became a symbol of the recent horror boom after her debut web novel, About a Certain Place in the Kinki Region, surpassed 22 million page views and later sold over 1 million copies as a book. The show followed her since May, capturing her daily life and work during the busy midsummer horror season. It airs August 30 at 23:10 on MBS/TBS, with streaming on TVer.
Bandai Namco Filmworks released the main trailer and key visual for the Maebashi Witches compilation film, Gekijōban Maebashi Witches: Majo Minarai no Emoemories. The film opens in Japan on October 23, with director Junichi Yamamoto, scriptwriter Erika Yoshida, and composer Yuri Habuka returning. The group also announced a solo concert for January 2027.
The Maebashi Witches anime will stream all 12 episodes free on its official YouTube channel from August 28 at 18:00 to September 4 at 23:59. The run starts with a premiere. The series, produced by Sunrise Studio, follows five singing witch apprentices in Maebashi, Gunma. A theatrical version opens October 23.
Bandai Namco Pictures will stream all 413 episodes of the Battle Spirits anime series nonstop on YouTube from August 8 at 9 p.m. through around August 15. The live-only broadcast, with no archive, covers the franchise from Shounen Toppa Bashin to the latest web series Mirage, ahead of the fall premiere of Battle Spirits [Re] Zekkai no Sora.
Pia Corporation released Mobile Police Patlabor: Shibashigeo Pia on August 5 to commemorate Mobile Police Patlabor EZY. The book focuses on Shibashigeo, with interviews with voice actor Shigeru Chiba and director Yutaka Izubuchi, plus a new cover by Akemi Takada. It includes bonuses like an A3 poster and postcards.

Pia Co., Ltd. will release "Mobile Police Patlabor Shiba Shigeo Pia" on August 5, 2026, a dedicated fan magazine for the character from the new theatrical anime "Mobile Police Patlabor EZY." The A4, 96-page all-color volume includes an exclusive cover illustration by Akemi Takada, bonus postcards, an A3 poster of famous scenes and quotes, and interviews with voice actor Shigeru Chiba and director Yutaka Izubuchi. Kametsu Tomobashi announced on July 4 that the S Rank Bōkensha Dearu Ore no Musume-tachi wa Jūdo no Fathercon Deshita light novel series will receive a TV anime adaptation. The family fantasy follows former prodigy adventurer Kaiser and his three adoring daughters. The novel series launched on Shōsetsu ni Narō in 2019 and has over 1.6 million copies in circulation.
The compilation film for the original TV anime Maebashi Witches, titled Gekijouban Maebashi Witches: Majo Minarai no Emo Emo Memories, will open in Japanese theaters on October 23. The original staff have reunited to restructure the 12-episode series into a 120-minute theatrical cut. Comedian Yuki Iwai of the duo Haraiti wrote the lyrics for the new theme song, Harebare Make Up, with composition and arrangement by EFFY. Advance movie ticket cards went on sale July 3.
Passion Republic Games released a gameplay preview video for the upcoming GigaBash DLC featuring Ultraman Zero and Ultraman Belial. The DLC arrives July 10, 2026 in Japan. A new Ultraman Zero film is also planned for 2027, the franchise's 60th anniversary, with a new form called Ultraman Zero Cosmorize revealed.
Netflix will stream the second live-action Golden Kamuy film, subtitled The Abashiri Prison Raid, on July 13. The film opened in Japan in March at number three, earning 368 million yen in its first three days. Kento Yamazaki and Anna Yamada reprise their roles, with new cast members joining.
P.A.Works has launched the 2026 edition of its Kissuiso MUSEUM project, an annual fan art initiative supporting the Yuwaku Bonbori Festival in Ishikawa Prefecture. The studio is soliciting illustrations, paintings, manga, and photos of three-dimensional objects themed around Yuwaku Onsen Town and the Hanasaku Iroha series. Selected works will be compiled into a catalog, with 200 copies donated to the festival committee. Applications are open from June 5 to August 16, 2026.
The staff for the television anime of Kamome Shirahama's Witch Hat Atelier manga announced two new cast members on Monday. Veteran voice actor Ryusei Nakao will voice Sasaran, a member of the Brimmed Cap group, while Hiiro Ishibashi has been cast as Euini. Sasaran appears in episode 10, which aired on June 1, and Euini will join the story in episode 11 on June 8. The two characters play significant roles in the upcoming Second Pentagram Test Arc. Nakao said he was looking forward to the series because he liked its world and became fond of playing a character shrouded in mystery. Ishibashi said he was drawn into the manga's world and felt honored to join a work loved around the world. Ayumu Watanabe is directing the anime at BUG FILMS. The series premiered on April 6 on Tokyo MX and other channels. Crunchyroll streams the anime as it airs, including an English dub. The manga launched in Kodansha's Morning Two magazine in July 2016 and has 16 compiled volumes as of April 2026. The franchise has over 7 million copies in circulation worldwide.
Indonesian studio Authentic Remixes showcased its 2D action platformer Kidbash: Super Legend at BitSummit PUNCH in Kyoto from May 22 to 24, 2026. The game features a roguelike action platformer structure where players control the protagonist Kidbash through side-scrolling stages, combining two weapons via a Mix gauge to create powered-up attacks. Director Bima cited influences from Japanese classics including Mega Man, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, Sonic, Zelda, Bomberman, Gunstar Heroes, Harvest Moon, and the Power Pros series. The character Kidbash originated as a toy in 2019 before game development began around 2024. During the event, publisher Acclaim announced it will release the game on PC via Steam and consoles, with a target window of early 2027. Bima said the team wants the game to feel modern yet nostalgic for Japanese players, given the team's heavy inspiration from Japanese games.
The television anime adaptation of Hiroshi Shiibashi's manga Iwamoto-senpai no Suisen has announced two new supporting cast members and its theme songs, along with a July 4 premiere date. Voice actors Gen Satou and Shinnosuke Tokudome join the cast as Ryuu Sazame and Mizuka Awatama, respectively. Japanese boy-band THE JET BOY BANGERZ performs the opening theme "BUDDING," and WOLF HOWL HARMONY performs the ending theme "Koko ni Iru." The anime will air on Tokyo MX at 10:30 p.m. and on Sun TV every Saturday starting July 4. Toshifumi Kawase directs the series at Studio Deen, with Keiichirou Oochi handling series composition, Atsuko Nakajima designing characters, and Yoshiaki Dewa and Toru Ishitsuka composing the music. The previously announced main cast includes Taito Ban as Kodo Iwamoto, Yuki Sakakibara as Kai Haramachi, and Kento Ito as Soichiro Amaba, among others. Shiibashi began the manga as a one-shot in Shonen Jump+ in March 2020 before it began regular serialization in Ultra Jump in February 2021. Shueisha published the 13th volume on January 19, with the 14th volume scheduled for July 17.
The voice actor unit Maebashi Witches held a one-man live at Zepp DiverCity Tokyo on May 24, 2026, performing songs from their third album "Strelitzia" and debuting the new track "Tenkiame Wonderland." The daytime show featured solo songs, a comedy skit, and a full setlist of anime insert songs, with an archive stream available until June 30.

The 12-episode TV series originally aired from April to June 2025 and is currently being rebroadcast in Japan on Tokyo MX and BS11 since April 5. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired. The film is produced by Bandai Namco Filmworks and PROJECT MBW, with Sunrise credited for the original work. Junichi Yamamoto directed the series, Erika Yoshida handled series scripts, Nozomi Tachibana designed the characters based on Yū Inami's original designs, and Yuri Habuka composed the music. The main cast includes Sakura Kasuga as Yuina Akagi, Hinano Sakikawa as Azu Niisato, Rena Motomura as Kyoka Kitahara, Haruka Minami as Choco Mitsumata, and Honami Momose as Mai Kamiizumi, with Tomokazu Sugita as Keroppe. The five main characters will also host solo performance concerts in Tokyo on May 24 and in Osaka on May 31.
