This marks the first time Mashima has personally drawn a new Fairy Tail serialization since the original manga ended in July 2017. The original Fairy Tail manga launched in 2006 and ran for 545 chapters, inspiring multiple anime seasons, films, and spin-offs including the ongoing Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest sequel.
