SEGA FAVE Co., Ltd. launched the Gekichumai Original Song Portal on July 1, 2026, aggregating over 1,300 original songs from arcade rhythm games maimai, CHUNITHM, and ONGEKI. The site allows browsing by song, previewing tracks, viewing in-game level data and related videos, and creating and sharing playlists. A playlist creation campaign tied to the upcoming maimai Deluxe MUSiC LiVE2026 event runs through July 10.
Sunao Katabuchi's 2009 theatrical anime "Mai Mai Shinko to Sennen no Mahō" will air on NHK E Tele on June 20, 2026. The film, based on Nobuko Takagi's autobiographical novel, follows the friendship of two third-grade girls in 1950s Yamaguchi Prefecture. Madhouse handled animation production, with Mayuko Fukuda and Nako Mizusawa voicing the leads.
The 33rd Crayon Shin-chan 2D anime film, Eiga Crayon Shin-chan Kikikaikai! Ora no Yōkai Bake-shon, has cast FRUITS ZIPPER singers Runa Nakagawa and Noel Hayase in guest roles. The film opens in Japan on July 31, 2026, and follows the Nohara family into a yōkai world after an incident at a fireworks festival in Akita.
The television anime adaptation of Haruomi Tomotsuka's Dara-san of Reiwa manga has revealed a second trailer, additional cast members, and a July 2 premiere date. The trailer previews the ending theme song "Hinatabocchi" by REIRIE. Newly announced cast include Aoi Koga, Tomokazu Sugita, Mai Aizawa, Saori Hayami, and Hōchū Ōtsuka.
