After War Gundam X is in the middle of a 30th anniversary push that runs across multiple product lines, all tied to the original 1996 TV anime. The most technically ambitious item is the PROPLICA G Controller, the in-series device used to activate Gundams. Bandai announced it on August 24 during the anniversary program, and it ships in February 2027 with three modes, newly recorded dialogue, and a dedicated base. The same program confirmed a METAL ROBOT魂 Gundam Double X, shown only as a painted prototype with no release date.
The anniversary has also extended into Gunpla and apparel. The HG 1/144 Gundam Leopard released on August 8, 2026, and a second run went to lottery sale on Premium Bandai days later. T-shirts featuring the Gundam X and Gundam Virsago in an ink-brush style arrived in two separate releases, one through STRICT-G JAPAN and another directly on Premium Bandai, both priced at 6,600 yen. STRICT-G also paired with 441-year-old fan maker Nishikawa Shōroku Shōten for two fans marking the series' 30th anniversary.
Documentation of the series is also getting a permanent form. The Complete Record Collection A.W. 30th Chronicle, a two-volume set shipping in January 2027, collects setting materials, rough designs by Kunio Okawara and Masayoshi Nishimura, and four cast roundtable discussions. Coverage of the anniversary has been commercial rather than retrospective, with no new animation or re-release announced in these stories.

Scriptwriter Hiroyuki Kawasaki died on January 23, fellow screenwriter Takao Koyama announced on X/Twitter on Thursday. Kawasaki was 60. He was born on November 17, 1965. Koyama, who founded the screenwriter training group Brazaanoppo in 1988, noted that Kawasaki was among its first members and called him "one of the most prolific screenwriters among the Noppo members." Brazaanoppo disbanded in 2016, and some of its members later joined Kawasaki's own group, Hiroyuki Kawasaki's Screenwriting and Research. Kawasaki wrote scripts and series compositions for numerous anime, including Blade of the Immortal, Ryoko's Case File, Silent Möbius, After War Gundam X, Sakura Wars, and Shinkon Gattai Godannar. He also co-wrote the Love Hina light novel. Animation director Masami Obari posted a tribute on X, saying he was "greatly indebted" to Kawasaki for Platinumhugen Ordian.
