Itaq To Release Fourth Album TYGTA -Geta Off- On September 18

The album puts Itaq's sect upbringing and his rap career in the same frame, and the production credits and genre spread are built to hold both Japanese rap's old and new without dropping either side.

Itaq To Release Fourth Album TYGTA -Geta Off- On September 18

Rapper Itaq will release his fourth album, TYGTA -Geta Off-, on Friday, September 18. The 18-track concept album centers on his upbringing as a second-generation member of Happy Science and sets opposing elements against each other: faith and corruption, fiction and reality, and the old and new of hip-hop. It draws on George Orwell's 1984 and the Quran, and moves through boom bap, New Jazz, Plugg, Trap, and Reggaeton.

Itaq has spent his career rapping about faith, and the new record runs that material through a wider sound. Eighteen tracks move from boom bap to New Jazz, Plugg, Trap, and Reggaeton, with beats from Forty Four, Tyga Ichinose, Galan Beatz, yanagamiyuki, Pro Hamburger, and others. Two advance singles preceded it: "Evangelion" on September 4 and "2112" on September 11. The title comes from Taygeta, one of the stars in the Pleiades cluster.
