Gley Lancer Remake Overdrive Playable At TGS2026
A 1992 Masaya shooter already kept alive through cart reissues and current console ports is being rebuilt from the pixel art up by a studio working under license from the rights holder and the original staff.
Reporting from 1 source: GAME Watch (Impress).
Nalua Studio is showing Gley Lancer: Overdrive, a full remake of the 1992 Masaya Mega Drive shooter, at Tokyo Game Show 2026. The booth build runs the original NEOGEO version with three areas playable and no demo footage implemented. Pixel art and animations are redone, the BGM is fully arranged, and a new offense and defense system called Overdrive is added. Release is set for 2027.
The version on the show floor is not the modern build. Nalua Studio is running the original NEOGEO version at its booth in Hall 9, C35, inside the indie area, with three areas playable. Development is under license from extreme, which holds the rights, and supervised by extreme and the original development staff.
Hiroshi Aizawa, who drew the original package, returns for the package design and is set to work on the opening scene and story. The package on display is completely black because it is unfinished.
