Desktop Mate Adds IA as a 2,200 Yen DLC
The IA DLC puts a major virtual artist inside a paid desktop companion app whose base software is free, extending the model past decoration into an alarm and screen-wide presence.
Reporting from 1 source: GIGAZINE.
Desktop Mate now offers a DLC character based on 1st PLACE's virtual artist IA, released October 15, 2026 and priced at 2,200 yen including tax. The character appears on the desktop with sparkling effects, poses, sits on the taskbar, can be picked up and moved, resized with a scroll wheel, and set as an alarm that brings IA onto the full screen to announce the time.
The IA character is selected from the right-click Change Character menu and arrives with sparkling effects. She tosses her hair while idling, sits on the taskbar, and lies down when placed over a window. Dragging picks her up.
Size runs from 1 to 100 through the settings menu or a mouse scroll. At larger sizes and near the screen edge, GIGAZINE notes that she occasionally moves out of frame. Setting an alarm makes IA fill the screen at the chosen time and read it aloud. Desktop Mate is free; the DLC is 2,200 yen with tax.
