City Connection Remasters Higurashi Mahjong For Switch, PS5, And PC In 2027
The remaster keeps a 2009 arcade spin-off in circulation while a new Higurashi television anime with Studio DEEN and a returning cast is in the works, so the franchise is being kept on shelves on modern hardware as well as in production.

City Connection announced on Tuesday that the 2009 arcade mahjong game Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Jong is getting a remaster. The Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Jong Remaster will launch in Japan in 2027 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. The original game came to arcades in July 2009 and reached PlayStation Portable that same year.
The original arcade game ran in Japanese arcades from July 2009 and moved to PlayStation Portable the same year. City Connection has not announced a release outside Japan. The Higurashi franchise began as a visual novel from 07th Expansion, with the first chapter released in 2002 at Comiket, and moved through the 2006 and 2007 anime series, the 2020 GOU and 2021 SOTSU series, and a new television anime that has been green-lit with Studio DEEN animating and a returning cast.
